Chicken
Chickens are a new creature added in Valheim's Mistlands update. The only way to get them is by hatching eggs purchased from Haldor, so you'll have to find him on your world before you can get them. This page will explain everything you need to know about Chickens.
Hatching Chicken Eggs
Once you've found Haldor the Merchant and defeated Yagluth, you can get eggs. You'll want to buy two of them from Haldor for 1500 coins each, which is a rather steep price for a couple of eggs - but worth it if you want to raise your own Chickens.
If you drop the eggs in a warm place they will hatch into Chickens after a couple days. These Chickens will turn into Hens if you wait another couple days. Be sure to give them a constant supply of seeds such as Onion Seeds or Turnip Seeds to keep them fed. Eventually they will breed and lay more eggs for you to use in cooking. You can also kill Hens to get Chicken Meat, which can be used to cook Honey Glazed Chicken.
Hens will need space to breed and a roof to keep warm. Eggs will only hatch if they are close enough to a fire, which you can check by looking for the fire icon in the top right of your screen.
