The best thing about this game is its setting and soundtrack. Everything else feels shallow, and the flaws in its design become more obvious the longer you play. Stealth is fun at first—it’s effortless and satisfying, which delivers on the fantasy. But the problem is that this “cool factor” doesn’t last. It gets repetitive, and the lack of mechanical depth becomes clear. The AI is painfully dumb, and as you unlock more tools, the game only gets easier. Most encounters can be solved by droppin****oke bomb and chain-assassinating your way through.
The black box mission design doesn’t live up to its name—it feels overly scripted and dull.
The story starts with an intriguing premise, but the open-ended structure undermines any real character growth or development. On top of that, the targets are forgettable. The game throws in a cinematic before each major assassination to remind you how evil they are, it’s some of the laziest storytelling I’ve seen.

I enjoyed the first time I played it but on a revisit I found the open world design to be monotonous. Combat is just fine and so are the puzzles. Story is cookie cutter and the comedy is extremely hit or miss, but errs on the side of cringe. It’s and ok game. However, the art style is very pleasing.

This is genuinely masterful gameplay. I highly recommend playing on Survivor difficulty, as it truly brings out the depth of the mechanics and delivers the best modern stealth experience. On lower difficulties, the AI can feel underwhelming, but on Survivor and above, you can see the effort Naughty Dog put into making the AI smarter and more dynamic. The heightened challenge forces you to rely on stealth, improvise, think strategically, and carefully manage your resources. Enemies feel like real people with unpredictable behaviors, while the infected, appropriately, act more simplistically. The result is a tense, immersive, and addictive gameplay experience.
The visuals are stunning. Post-apocalyptic, overgrown, rainy Seattle is brought to life with incredible mood and atmosphere. The art direction is absolutely brilliant, capturing the decayed beauty of the world perfectly.
The soundtrack is just as exceptional. Gustavo Santaolalla’s mostly minimalistic score evokes deep emotions that complement the visuals and gameplay beautifully. Tracks like “Allowed to be Happy” and “Longing” are standout pieces that linger long after you’ve heard them.
The game also excels in world-building, expanding the lore of the series in smart and meaningful ways.
The story is controversial, and while it has its flaws, the overall emotional impact is undeniably poignant. I disagree with common criticisms of the pacing, as the structure is integral to the experience and removing or altering it would weaken other aspects of the game. That said, some side characters, like Dina and Jesse, feel underdeveloped, and the second half of the story introduces a plotline that can feel slightly aimless. However, it succeeds in building the characters and reinforcing the game’s themes.

It’s an enjoyable game, but the mechanics feel overly simplistic, and the gameplay starts to wear thin after a while. The game does try to mix things up with a solid variety of enemies, but I don’t find the core mechanics interesting enough to carry it through the full length. Boss fights are fun but ultimately simple and forgettable—none of them really stand out.
Visually, it’s a mixed bag. At times, it looks great, but low-quality textures and issues like light leaks can create a weird, inconsistent look.
I probably should have played on a higher difficulty for a better experience. The game felt way too easy on Standard, but the recommendation to avoid Hardcore unless you’ve played RE4 before threw me off. I usually opt for higher difficulties, but the mention of increased item costs made me think it would be a punishing challenge. In hindsight, I doubt it would’ve been as grueling as I assumed, given how easy Standard turned out to be.
The story leans into cheesy, B-movie vibes, which is fun in its own way. The dialogue is so stupid that it’s enjoyable. As for the audio, it’s decent overall, but some sounds are noticeably over-compressed and lack polish.

One of the most fun completionist experiences. Great art direction, atmosphere, music and gameplay. Sense of momentum and looseness of the movement is amazing. The Shadow of the colossus inspired bosses are amazing and on the highest difficulty demand perfection.
The only weak part was the story but gameplay here is what matters.
