Need more space?
By combining parts in the IVAR storage system you can put the space you have to best use. Build upwards and to the sides with cabinets and shelves. Drill into the solid wood side units and add hooks. Paint or wax the entire shelf in a colour you really like. The possibilities are many – even if the space is limited.We recommend you to fix the furniture to the wall with the enclosed safety bracket to prevent it from tipping over if a child climbs or hangs on it.
How to build
- First think carefully about what you need to store and how much of the various categories - books, CDs, binders etc. – you have.
- Combine the side units with shelves. For the first section you need two side units, a set of shelves and a crossbrace.
- Extend sideways, either at the same or a different height. For each additional section, you require just one side unit, which you link to the existing storage solution with shelves, drawer units, or other accessories.
- To ensure stability we recommend that you fit a crossbrace to every second section.
- Wax the surface for a finish that is more hard-wearing and easier to keep clean.

TIP: How to calculate the width of a tailor-made solution?
If you are planning your shelving unit solution yourself, you need to allow 3cm for the width of the outer side unit. You must also add the width of the shelves or cabinets you have chosen.
