Join IRE regional workshop in Utah

IRE is heading to Utah for the Jeff German Investigative Workshop, April 11-12.

The workshop at Weber State University in Ogden, Utah, will begin on a Friday morning and continues through Saturday with half-day training in Google Sheets.

This regional workshop is named in honor of the late Jeff German, a longtime IRE member killed in 2022 by a county official German had investigated. The workshop is made possible through the Jeff German Fund for Investigative Journalism and co-sponsored by Weber State University's Lindquist College of Arts & Humanities.

IRE Board to meet  April 18 online

The IRE Board of Directors is meeting online Friday, April 18, at 10 a.m. EST. The agenda will be posted soon; it will include an update on planning for IRE25, set for June 19-22, in New Orleans, and information on how to run for the board — six of the 13 seats are up for election this year along with two seats on the Contest Committee. The meeting is open to active members. Registration is required.

In a related matter, the board is considering an amendment to the IRE Code of Bylaws that would allow the appointment of a financial professional to the IRE Board’s Finance Committee. IRE members have until April 23 to comment on the proposed amendment. Send comments to Treasurer Mark Greenblatt at mark.greenblatt@asu.edu or to Sarah Cohen, chair of the board's Governance Committee, at sarah.h.cohen@gmail.com.
