GETTING SET UP
01Does it work in every browser?+
Yes, all of them. LockedWeb filters at the system level rather than browser by browser, so Safari, Chrome, Firefox, Edge, incognito windows, and the browsers built into other apps are covered by one block. There’s no extension to install and nothing to forget.
02How long does setup take?+
It depends on the device, and your dashboard walks you through each one. Windows takes about 3 minutes and Mac about 5. iPhone, iPad, and Android take 5 to 10 minutes: the recommended iPhone and iPad setup uses a Windows PC or Mac and a cable, and Android’s optional maximum-protection setup starts with a backup and a reset.

03Will it affect my apps, photos, or files?+
No. LockedWeb filters the network connection to block adult content. Your apps, photos, messages, and files are untouched, and nothing on your device is scanned or uploaded. One exception during setup: Android’s optional maximum-protection mode starts with a backup and a reset of the phone. The standard Android setup needs neither.

EVERYDAY USE
05Will my browsing feel slower?+
No. Filtering happens in milliseconds, before a page even starts to load, so browsing, streaming, and downloads run at full speed. It’s built to keep battery use low; nothing scans your screen in the background.
06What about Netflix, YouTube, gaming, and social media?+
Steam, Netflix, Spotify, news, banking, and most social media work normally. Three adjustments: YouTube runs in Restricted Mode, images and video are blocked on Reddit and X (see the next question), and VPN apps are blocked by default, so a show you stream through a VPN may not play. If your household relies on a VPN for work or streaming, email support@lockedweb.com from your account email and tell us which one, and we will let you know what we can allow. Streaming services make their own rules about playing through a VPN, and LockedWeb cannot change those. LockedWeb blocks adult content and leaves the rest of the internet alone.
07Can I still use Reddit, X, and Google Images?+
Yes, with one difference on Reddit and X. Because both host explicit content, LockedWeb blocks all images and video on those two sites. Text, posts, comments, and links work like always. That block is on by default; if you have a real need for images on those sites, you can ask support to turn them back on for your account. Google Images stays fully usable, with SafeSearch forced on.
08I work on this device. Is that a problem?+
No. Most members run LockedWeb on the same computer they work on. It doesn’t touch your files, and because there are no browsing reports, nothing about your workday is recorded. The filter focuses almost exclusively on adult content, so unless your work requires access to it, it won’t get in the way in 99.9% of situations. If a site you need for work is blocked, submit a request from your account and we’ll review it. We never unblock adult content, even when asked; the only way to reach it is uninstalling after the 72-hour waiting period. If your company requires special network software, write us first and we’ll confirm compatibility.
09What happens when I update my OS or get a new phone?+
Protection carries through system updates. And when you get a new device, your subscription already covers it: install LockedWeb during setup and you’re protected from day one.
10What if a site I need gets blocked by mistake?+
It’s rare, but it happens. Report it from your dashboard and our team reviews it; genuine miscategorizations are fixed for everyone, usually within a day. Blocking more is always instant. Only loosening your own protection waits 72 hours.
11Can I block sites that aren’t pornography?+
Yes. Add any site to your custom blocklist: gambling, betting, social apps, anything that has no place on your devices or your kids’. It’s blocked on every protected device in seconds, in every app and browser. Taking a site back off the list works like every other loosening: a 72-hour wait, then a one-time code.
12What if I need more than 25 devices?+
Your plan covers up to 25 devices, which is more than most households ever use. If you do need more, open your dashboard and add extra devices for a small per-device fee. Each one gets the same protection the moment it's set up.
13Does it work on mobile data and away from home?+
Yes. Protection is installed on the device itself, not on your router, so it comes along on mobile data, at school, at work, and on any other Wi-Fi network. Nothing to switch on when you leave the house.
THE LOCK AND YOUR PRIVACY
14Can I turn it off if I really need to?+
No, and neither can anyone else in the house. There’s no pause, no disable, and no password stored on the device to find. You can request removal; that takes 72 hours and a one-time unlock code from our team, every time, for everyone. After the code, removal is clean: everything we installed comes off and your devices go back to how they were. If you come back later, setup is the same guided process as the first time.
15Does incognito or a VPN get around it?+
No. Incognito windows are filtered like everything else, because the block sits underneath the browser rather than inside it. A VPN is not an off switch either: the filter sits underneath the apps on the device, and your accountability partner is told about any change. The only path around protection is the built-in one: 72 hours and a one-time code.
16Can LockedWeb see what I browse?+
No. We never store browsing history, take screenshots, or produce browsing reports, for you or anyone else. What we do keep: the account details needed to run your subscription, such as your email and device names, with billing handled by our payment processor. The full list is in our

17Is this an accountability app?+
Accountability is built in, without the surveillance. Naming a contact is optional; if you do, they’re notified whenever someone asks to remove protection or tampers with it, so the boundary is never quietly undone. What they never see is your browsing: no history, no reports, no screenshots.
18Can I put it on my kid’s or partner’s device?+
Yes. Install it on their device and hold the unlock code yourself; loosening still takes 72 hours, and it can’t happen without you. There’s no password stored on the device, so a kid who knows your other passcodes still can’t turn it off. You won’t get reports of what they looked at, because we don’t keep any. LockedWeb blocks; it doesn’t surveil.
19Is this parental-control software?+
For blocking, yes. Install it on your kids’ devices and adult content is blocked in every app and browser, with the unlock code held by you. Unlike typical parental controls, it collects nothing: no browsing logs, no screen-time reports, no location tracking. It stops explicit content up front instead of reporting on your kids after.
