Innovation builds on strong technological roots. At XGRADE 2026 conference in Palermo (Italy) we are are showing how our experience in gamma radiation detection and digital signal processing is evolving into new technologies and new application fields. Together with Nuclear Instruments, we are presenting UltraSpectra, a new platform for high-rate X-ray spectroscopy, designed for applications such as XRF, synchrotron beamlines, material analysis, and photon-counting. This marks a natural evolution of our technology, bringing our core know-how from gamma into the X-ray field and opening new scientific opportunities. #CAENspa #XRaySpectroscopy #ToolsForDiscovery #DigitalSignalProcessing #RadiationDetection

It is great to see a CAEN digitizer used with a high-purity germanium (HPGe) spectroscopy setup for direct Xe-135 and I-135 monitoring at a research reactor #toolsfordiscovery #NuclearInstrumentation #GammaSpectroscopy #ReactorPhysics #HPGe #DataAcquisition
Directly Monitoring Xe-135 in Reactors We are excited to share our new open-access article: Monitoring Xe-135 after the shutdown of a research reactor using gamma-ray spectroscopy 🔍 Xe-135 is a fission product that absorbs neutrons and can make reactor control challenging after shutdown. 📊 In our study, we directly monitored Xe-135 and its precursor I-135 using a high-purity germanium (HPGe) gamma-ray detector at the CROCUS research reactor. View the full article here (our article is open access): https://lnkd.in/gq_8prU2 🎯 We measured gamma-ray signals from Xe-135 (250 keV) and I-135 (1260 keV) after shutting down the reactor. 💼 Our data shows the classic “xenon pit,” where Xe-135 builds up after shutdown and temporarily lowers reactor reactivity. 📖 We found the Xe-135 concentration peaked about 11 hours after shutdown, just as theory predicts. 🎯 By directly measuring Xe-135 and I-135, we provide valuable data to improve reactor safety models and help with shutdown and accident scenarios. #engineering #science #research #security #graduateschool #graduatestudent #mtvconsortium #phd #phdstudent #neutron #detection #imaging #safeguards #nonproliferation Nuclear Engineering and Radiological Sciences—University of Michigan University of Michigan College of Engineering #nuclear Flynn Darby, PhD Oskari Pakari
