What do global mayors do in Chengdu? Apparently, fall in love with pandas – just like the rest of us. After all, no trip to the capital city of Sichuan Province is complete without saying hello to its most beloved and fluffiest of "diplomats," right? On May 15, foreign delegates attending the 2026 Global Mayors Dialogue in Chengdu explored some of the best the city has to offer – from the iconic Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, home to the famously endearing black-and-white residents, to the Dujiangyan Irrigation System, the world's only ancient irrigation system still in operation today.

As cultural exchanges between China and Russia continue to deepen, art has once again become a bridge linking the hearts of the two peoples.   In January this year, the Moscow Ballet brought the timeless classic Swan Lake to the Guiyang Grand Theatre in southwest China's Guizhou Province, captivating audiences with the elegance of Russian ballet. Just a few months later, in April, the Guangzhou Acrobatic Troupe staged its masterpiece, the acrobatic drama Swan, at the historic Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg, presenting the beauty of Chinese acrobatics on the world-renowned stage. One tells a story through ballet, the other through acrobatics. Yet both are connected by the image of the swan – grace, emotion and artistic pursuit beyond borders.   #ChinaRussia #BondBeyondSeas (Photos via VCG)

A 240-meter-long "golden dragon" made of glowing bamboo rafts lit up Beijing's Liangma River on Friday night, turning the riverside into a dazzling cultural stage and bringing fresh energy to the city's vibrant nightlife.   The spectacular "golden dragon" parade originated in Yangshuo, Guilin, south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, where it grew from a local bamboo rafting festival into a unique folk performance blending dragon culture, craftsmanship and river traditions. Today, it has been listed as city-level intangible cultural heritage of Guilin. #ChinaSeen #ChinaMaxxing (Photos via VCG)

In Guangzhou, a sudden torrential rainstorm triggered severe flooding. A child accidentally fell and was quickly swept away by the raging water. At that critical moment, five young men sprinted from different directions, jumped into the water without hesitation, and worked together to pull the child to safety. Amid the raging storm and rushing water, their heroic act shines as a powerful reminder of humanity's kindness and courage. #CoolChina
