🌍 That's a wrap on the CIDSE Climate Relay Dialogues! What began in Belém has now concluded in Bonn, on the sidelines of SB64, and what a journey it has been. 🗨️ Our final dialogue on assessing the current climate finance landscape in Bonn reaffirmed a powerful truth: meaningful climate action cannot happen without adequate, non debt creating, accessible and grant based finance. Participants agreed that the current climate finance doesn’t meet the needs of the people or the planet. Dr Amaoh the African Group of Negotiators (AGN) Chair, emphasized that developing countries can only be ambitious with ambitious climate finance aligning to needs. Developed countries must meet their obligation under article 9.1c. Musamba Mubanga, from Caritas Internationalis, highlighted the intersection between debt crisis and climate vulnerability. Countries are unable to respond to their climate action or development needs because of a huge part of national budgets spent on repaying debt. Carolina Alves, from Inesc - Instituto de Estudos Socioeconômicos, highlighted mechanisms that risk deepening inequalities such as carbon markets which are considered part of the climate finance taxonomy in Brazil. At CIDSE, we are proud to keep working alongside our members, allies, partners, and communities, amplifying voices from the ground up and being with them in the spaces where decisions are made. 🌱 And this is not the end. ✨ As we close this cycle, we're excited to announce that in the coming months we will publish a collection of stories of change: a document designed to elevate community voices into international political spaces and inspire continued action for our #commonhome. ➡️ Stay tuned as more updates coming soon.

About us
CIDSE (Coopération internationale pour le développement et la solidarité) is an international family of Catholic social justice organisations. We work with global partners and allies to promote justice, harnessing the power of global solidarity to achieve transformational change for people and the planet. We challenge systemic injustice and its destructive impacts through connecting, mobilising, influencing and telling stories of change. We promote environmentally and socially just alternatives to allow everyone to thrive in our common home. CIDSE’s work promotes food sovereignty and land justice, addresses impunity and corporate power and explores the relationship between energy and extractivism, all the while striving for a model of sufficiency. We take a systemic approach to our thematic work, with a focus on human rights, decolonisation, feminism, climate and biodiversity justice, as well as on challenging prevailing economic and political systems and exploring alternatives. To make this happen we contribute to global movements and alliances of change, promote peoples’ solutions and alternatives and advocate at the international level.

✨ The past three days were filled with insights and discussions, but also with joy and warmth. COMED Forum 2026 has come to an end, and CIDSE couldn't be happier to have joined and brought together this wonderful group of people working within education, development, communications and fundraising across our member organisations. We left Madrid with a sense of mission accomplished: connected, inspired, and challenged to keep the spirit of solidarity and companionship alive, through our work and through our lives. 🍃 Of course, none of this would have been possible without the commitment and organisation of Marta Isabel González Álvarez and Manos Unidas team, the hosts of this year's COMED Forum. 👏 We return full of ideas and inspiration, ready to keep strengthening the ties that make our network what it is, and we look forward to welcoming you all to Brussels next year, hosted by our member Entraide & Fraternité! 💚
🌎 Yesterday, we had the pleasure of launching the Manual for Trainers on the EU #GlobalGateway Strategy during a webinar with great attendance! This Manual marks the conclusion of the first phase of a collaborative project with Counter Balance and EU-LAT Advocacy Network. More importantly, it represents the first step towards the creation and consolidation of a Global Gateway Observatory, a space for monitoring, analysis, learning, and advocacy around one of the EU's most important external investment strategies. ➡️ Why does this matter? The Global Gateway strategy will shape infrastructure, energy, digitalisation, transport, and development projects across many territories in Latin America and beyond. These investments will have concrete impacts on local communities, workers, ecosystems, and public policies. For this reason, civil society organisations need the knowledge and tools to understand how Global Gateway works, to monitor its implementation, and to advocate for projects that ⤵️ ✔ Respect human rights ✔ Protect the environment and biodiversity ✔ Ensure transparency and accountability ✔ Deliver tangible benefits for local populations and partner countries, not only for European interests 📖 The Manual has been designed as a practical resource to support training, capacity building, and informed engagement with Global Gateway initiatives. Read it here in Spanish 👉 https://lnkd.in/eVTWaz6t 🙏 Thank you to everyone who joined yesterday's webinar and contributed to this important discussion. We look forward to continuing this collective effort through the Global Gateway Observatory and strengthening civil society's role in shaping fair, sustainable, and rights-based investments.

🔗 Inscripciones: https://lnkd.in/eZRqTDAa

🌍 What a busy start to #SB64! This Monday, CIDSE took part in two events in Bonn: an official side-event and a press conference with our partners from the NCCEA. In the morning, CIDSE Advocacy Assistant Winnie Nalubowa was a speaker at the press conference “Faith in Action for Climate Justice”, organised by the NCCEA, a network of Catholic actors, where Catholic organisations and climate advocates from Africa, Asia, Europe, and Oceania presented key advocacy priorities: from adaptation and just transition to climate finance and Loss and Damage. 🌱 💬 As negotiations open in Bonn, the NCCEA called on Parties to act with urgency, solidarity, and courage on the road to COP31. After a successful Press Conference, CIDSE headed to the official side-event “From Santa Marta and Beyond: Delivering the TAFF”, where civil society and government exchanged perspectives on the fossil fuel transition, co-organised with Fastenaktion - Action de Carême - Azione Quaresimale, Germanwatch e.V., Operação Amazônia Nativa (OPAN) and Ateneo de Manila University. The event was moderated by Madeleine Alisa Wörner, from Misereor, and counted with civil society representatives from Colombia and Indonesia as well as Brazilian, Colombian, Irish and German government representatives. 👉 Key takeaways: the #SantaMarta process is moving forward toward a second conference, and civil society is pushing for it to remain truly participatory, with regional voices, local universities, and Global South representatives at the table. Stay tuned as more updates from Bonn to come. 🌱 #SB64 #ClimateJustice #TAFF
