We have just now, while at #KubeCon in Atlanta, applied to progress to #CNCF Incubation stage! Please show us your support if you care about the future of #PostgreSQL on #Kubernetes, by responding to the GitHub Issue 🙏 https://lnkd.in/gG_HkP_K
About us
CloudNativePG is the Kubernetes operator that covers the full lifecycle of a highly available PostgreSQL database cluster with a primary/standby architecture, using native streaming replication.

We just published the first release candidate of CloudNativePG 1.28. Its key improvements: 💪 The Quorum-Based Failover feature was promoted to stable - enhancing failover safety and data durability for high-availability clusters ✍️ Declarative Foreign Data Management Dive into the release notes for full details and more fixes: https://lnkd.in/gmJw8DxM Help us by testing the RC, and report bugs directly on GitHub: https://lnkd.in/gaNaJeQu It's an extra special release since it's Leonardo Cecchi's birthday, and Marco Nenciarini and Gabriele Bartolini pushed their changes from the plane to Atlanta for #KubeCon

Volume Group Snapshots were introduced as an Alpha feature in Kubernetes 1.27, and moved to Beta in Kubernetes 1.32. The recent v1.34 release moved that support to a second beta 🎉 One of the CloudNativePG maintainers, Leonardo Cecchi, was very involved with this work: https://lnkd.in/dc4wB4SH

We've just released CloudNativePG 1.27.1, 1.26.2, and 1.25.4! 🚀 These maintenance releases deliver important stability improvements and bug fixes to keep your production clusters running smoothly. Key highlights in 1.27.1 include: - Support for PostgreSQL 18 - Native in-core support for Barman Cloud extended - The `monitoring.enablePodMonitor` field is now deprecated We recommend upgrading to 1.27.1 for the latest features and long-term stability. Note: 1.25.4 is the final release for the unsupported 1.25.x series. We would love to ask you to fill out the 2025 survey from our friends from the Data on Kubernetes Community: https://lnkd.in/gXVJnCW3 (closing on Friday, October 17, midnight PT) After five years of surveying the community and monitoring K8s trends, the data is clear: it’s now a standard practice to run data on Kubernetes. Next challenge is how to optimize and prepare for emerging use cases like AI/ML and streaming, hence questions will focus in on these topics 🔍

Building and maintaining an open source project takes a village. In a mini-series on the blog we would like to highlight the work of our maintainers, component owners, and members of the larger community. Gabriele Quaresima is a Staff Software Engineer at EDB, where he builds products on top of CloudNativePG. The open source operator and the closed source ones running on top of it represent his learning path and entry point to Kubernetes and the #PostgreSQL world: https://lnkd.in/gvyJPnjJ

This Summer we participated in the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) mentorship platform LFX for the first time. It was a great experience, which is why we’re participating again in the cohort that is starting in September. More on that later. We checked in with Ying Zhu to ask her about her thoughts: "Working together with the team was a really valuable experience. We had a mix of async collaboration and synchronous check-ins. I learned a lot from the review process itself, since comments often helped me see simpler or more idiomatic solutions." A highlight was when she first got her FDW controller logic to reconcile properly end-to-end: "The aha-moment was realizing how important declarative-style programming is in Kubernetes development. It not only makes reconciliation more robust, but also greatly improves the clarity and readability of the code." Ying would encourage others to take part in the LFX mentorship program. "It’s a rare opportunity to work on real open-source projects with guidance from experienced maintainers, and contributing something that will actually be used by the community. For me, it was a chance to bridge academic knowledge with production-grade software and to become more confident working in a distributed, collaborative environment." https://lnkd.in/eH8p__Ax
