Today, Cisco announced its intent to acquire Astrix Security. As I reflect on this journey, my overwhelming feeling is one of gratitude. To Alon Jackson, thank you for always calling me whenever there is good or bad news and never hiding the truth. Thank you for doing right by investors, by customers and by employees. You are someone who I consider a great friend and someone I'm delighted to have in my life. You helped us put CRV on the cyber map, and you took a risk on me as a young GP when you had no reason to take that chance (this picture was when we signed the series A termsheet!). To Idan Gour, thank you for always thinking 10 steps ahead of me. You helped steer the ship towards AI agents far ahead of the VC hype. Thank you for treating me as an equal, and not as a board member to be kept at arms length. I will forever be grateful to you for being a mentor to me and a friend through the ups and downs. Today is bittersweet. I'll miss the 6am texts and the 11pm calls. I'll miss the ups and downs. I'll miss the wins when we close a big deal, lock in that exceptional hire or find that key unlock riding the AI hypecycle. Thank you for everything - until the next adventure.

There's no patient capital in VC right now. Literally no patience.   Intertwined trends: 1) VC firms have grown from partnerships to enterprises, and enterprises hire employees with near-term goals 2) Categorically investing in AI is consensus, so most of the dollars are invested here   On (1) structurally as firms have scaled, they've hired investors who are incentivized to show progress in their portfolio quickly or be fired. They're employees not "partners". The rational move is to "chase heat", overpaying for an AI company with momentum rather than taking a longer horizon, or perceived riskier investment   On (2) what's interesting is it's not just that AI is consensus, it's AI + founder age (young) + geo (SF). So even the shape of an early startup is "consensus" beyond just the category   Historically the way to win in VC was to be non consensus, but ultimately right over the arc of time (consensus). Being non consensus requires patience, and I'm just not seeing it out there in VC right now   And I'm not fully immune! Personally I'm finding it very hard to be patient as well right now

The quality of talent at Outtake is actually bonkers. Alec D'Alelio joined as a Technical Account Manager. He's not an engineer by trade & it's not his job to think about how to make our employees ramp 10x faster. But after reflecting on his own ramp process, he decided to roll up his sleeves & build an AI-powered training simulator so that folks can can run demo scenarios to learn the product faster/better. A lot of companies are desperately finding ways to become "AI-pilled", but Outtake was born AI-native. And the talent that comes here is fast setting the standard on how companies will operate over the next decade. Hit up Maddy Friedenfeld if that's a crew you want to join.

    Outtake | Technical Account Manager

Last month I joined Outtake as a founding Technical Account Manager 🚀 To get certified on our Deployment and GTM teams, new joiners have to pass live demo certifications. I found myself practicing my demos with ChatGPT voice mode, but it wasn't cutting it. Builder instinct kicked in and I decided to roll my own: an AI-powered simulator (now known as Pierre) that runs full demo scenarios, provides live coaching, and scores you against our cert rubrics. Last Friday, Pierre ended up in our weekly retro where Alex ran it live in front of the whole company. One of Outtake's core values is "push the button." Bias toward action, ship it, see what happens. Happy to say that in my fourth week, that wasn't just something written in a Notion doc! We're on a mission to build a more trusted internet. Excited to share that 7AI has been named a 2026 Cyber 150 winner by Richard Stiennon. The Cyber 150 recognizes mid-sized cybersecurity vendors demonstrating exceptional growth and product traction — the fast-moving, innovative edge of the industry. At 7AI, our AI agents take on the non-human work of security operations and free analysts to do the strategic work that matters. The momentum behind agentic security is real, and it's here today. Mercury CLI is live! Install now: curl -fsSL https://lnkd.in/dsU3Uk49 | sh Our Mercury MCP has been growing like crazy so I am excited to see what people do with the CLI too. Last month, @Alex Heath and @Ellis Hamburger asked me on the Access podcast whether I was nervous about giving the Mercury interface over to AI and whether the SaaSapocolypse is coming to banking. It's a fair question. The answer is I’m not. The fear should be not keeping up with how your customers want to work. More and more builders are running their entire stack through agents. So today we go deeper: the Mercury CLI lets you operate your Mercury account from the terminal where you run everything else. Query balances, analyze transactions, create invoices and upload receipts all from your terminal, Claude Code, or Cursor.
