Cryptonite is the official ethical hacking and cybersecurity team of MIT, Manipal. We focus our work in the fields of cryptography, forensics, reverse engineering and web exploitation. As a team, we strive to develop a keen interest in cybersecurity and to hone the necessary skills required not only to compete in CTFs with teams from all over the world throughout the year but also to carry out research.

    We are proud to announce that Team Nite Meowls of Cryptonite has secured 2nd place at C3iHub, IIT Kanpur, HACK IITK 2026, competing against an outstanding field of 9,000 participants and 1,400 teams from across the country. Team Nite Meowls competed in the Solution Track, advancing to the onsite finals held at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, where they presented their work on Problem Statement 1: "Local LLM Powered Policy Gap Analysis and Improvement Module." Their work ranked 2nd across all problem statements, earning a cash prize of Rs. 2,00,000. The team developed a novel on-device solution powered by a local LLM-based GRC engine, designed to automatically detect and remediate gaps in cybersecurity policies. The solution is built to help startups and organizations bring their security documentation in line with global compliance frameworks such as GDPR and DPDP, significantly reducing the manual effort involved in achieving and maintaining compliance. The team will continue refining the product with an eye toward market deployment. Team members (L-R): Shaan Chopra , Pratham Shah , Aaron Fritz , and Neha Varadharajan from the Research Department of Cryptonite put together an outstanding performance at the finals. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Manipal Institute of Technology for the continuous support and encouragement that makes achievements like this possible. A special thank you to our faculty advisor, Dr. Nisha P Shetty, for her invaluable guidance throughout this journey. We also thank C3iHub, IIT Kanpur for organizing this prestigious event and providing a platform for the brightest minds in cybersecurity.     We're thrilled to announce that Team Cryptonite has emerged as winners of the ISEA-ISAP 2026 CTF at IIT Madras. This prestigious national-level cybersecurity competition was hosted as part of the ISEA-ISAP 2026 Conference, bringing together the best student minds from across the country to tackle high-pressure technical challenges. The hackathon was structured across two rigorous phases, featuring an initial intensive CTF round followed by a comprehensive presentation-based evaluation. Team members Anshuman, Noorain, and Lakshit showcased exceptional strategy and technical depth to navigate the competition and secure first place. The core focus of this challenge tested the team's expertise specifically in the domains of Hardware Security and Binary Exploitation. Their ability to solve complex problems in these specialized areas allowed them to stand out among the nationwide participants. Organized under the Information Security Awareness (ISEA) initiative by the Government of India, the event aims to strengthen the national cybersecurity ecosystem. We’d like to thank Cybersecurity Club, IIT Madras and Centre for Cybersecurity, Trust and Reliability, IIT Madras (CyStar) for developing challenges for the competition. For their outstanding performance and problem-solving skills, Team Cryptonite was awarded the first position and a cash prize of ₹2 Lakhs.

    We are thrilled to announce that Team Cryptonite's Hardware Security Department has secured victory in the prestigious CSAW Embedded Security Challenge (ESC) 2025 - India Region, organized by the Trustworthy Computing Lab at NYU Tandon School of Engineering. The CSAW Embedded Security Challenge is one of the most comprehensive and educational global competitions in embedded systems security. The 2025 edition focused on cutting-edge hardware security techniques, specifically Side-Channel Attacks (SCAs) and Fault Injection Attacks (FIAs)-critical methodologies used to extract sensitive data from embedded systems. Competing against some of the best teams in the country, our team demonstrated exceptional technical skill and analytical depth. Leveraging the ChipWhisperer Nano, we successfully completed all challenge tasks with precision, methodological rigor, and a deep understanding of embedded security principles, earning us the First Prize along with a cash award of ₹30,000. This achievement reflects not only the team’s dedication but also the strong support ecosystem that enabled our preparation. We express our sincere gratitude to our institute, Manipal Institute of Technology for the timely provision of essential hardware equipment. We also extend our heartfelt thanks to Mr. Mukund Kumar Menon for his guidance throughout the competition, and to our faculty advisor, Dr. Nisha P Shetty for her constant support and encouragement.
