The outlook for U.S. hotels improved at the 2026 Hotel Data Conference (HDC), but the message for operators is still one of discipline. CoStar and Tourism Economics raised their 2026 RevPAR growth forecast by 1.6 percentage points, to 4.4%, as demand outperformed expectations. For hotel leaders, that is welcome news. It also raises an important budgeting question: how much of that momentum should carry into 2027 plans? Current forecasts point to slower RevPAR growth next year, while operating costs continue to put pressure on margins. That makes accurate forecasting, tighter cost control, and better visibility into performance even more important. Sarah McCay Tams rounds up the latest data in her recap blog. Continued market dynamism (we’re not calling it volatility any more) means that 2027 hotel budgets cannot rely on last year’s numbers and a few broad assumptions. Leaders need current data, aligned teams, and systems that help them act before small gaps become larger margin problems. That’s why we’ve put together resources to help you prepare for budget season. It details what data to include, and why technology should be part of the spend conversation. Hotels already collect valuable guest data. The challenge is turning it into better service. Requests, messages, reviews, and response times can reveal where friction occurs, which processes need attention, and how teams can deliver more consistent experiences. H1 growth didn't move equally. Some portfolios converted demand into margin. Others watched costs eat the gains. Our panel of hotel finance and operations leaders will unpack where that gap showed up by chain scale and what it means for how you plan the second half of 2026. We'll go live on August 20 at 12pm EST. Save your spot now! https://hubs.li/Q04rHDYT0
