Welcome to leadership in 2025. Executive decision-making used to involve multiple swimlanes. Pull X-data from Y-system. Loop in an SME to get clarity, PM for decision matrix documentation. Then frame decisions and push instructions for execution. Not anymore. That entire process has now collapsed into a single swimlane from ideation to decision to execution documentation. Skeptics will say this is flawed, that it’s not perfect. But, it doesn't have to be. When was data ever not opinionated? When have we made decisions NOT based gut feelings? Never. Data is often considered to be impartial and irrefutable. Few have the confidence to doubt it, even fewer can constructively argue its source, sample and presentation methodologies. We've always used people and data as validators for gut-based decisions. It has always been biased because there's always humans-in-the-loop. AI Agents are meant to please, just like humans. And, the AI-facilitated decisions will continue to be opinionated just as they always have been. Sure, there are gaps. There always will be. But it’s getting there. Agents orchestrating responsible hand-offs. SMEs becoming agents themselves. Analysis and synthesis happening in real-time. Heck...I'm seeing execs share their decision-making threads without hesitation. At the very least, it gives us the ability to recognize the faulty logic if we can pin-point and identify the bias in the query. You could just not do that with a human, people get defensive and cannot express their innate biases as clearly. While the meme is satirical, the theme is all real and here to stay.
