I am writing this from a flight to San Francisco!!!! Dreamforce starts in 2 days. 15 to 17 September, Moscone Center. A big part of this trip is time with the Altimetrik team, and that is the part I am looking forward to most. This will be Everyone at a show like this will talk about agents. Far fewer can tell you how they evaluate one, govern what it is allowed to touch, or give it enough business context to survive past a demo. Altimetrik works on the core layer underneath. Knowledge graphs so an agent understands how a business actually works. Eval engineering so you find out when it is wrong before your customer does. Orchestration and governance so a fleet of agents does not become a fleet of new risks. Then the Salesforce work sitting on top of all of it. The gap between what AI can do and what enterprises are putting into production is getting wider. That also means the opportunity is getting bigger. I recently recorded a fireside chat with Naman Joshi from OpenAI at the Altimetrik Executive Exchange in London, and I came away more optimistic about where enterprise AI is heading. Most organizations already have real AI capability in-house, and the opportunity now is to take it wall to wall with genuine value, which is far more achievable than it was even a year ago. Plenty of leaders used to hold back because they worried about the regulators, and that worry has eased. The ECB and the EU AI Act now give fairly clear guidance for using AI inside a regulated business, so teams can move with real confidence. Naman talked about the capability overhang, where the models keep getting more capable faster than most companies adopt them, and I see that as good news. It means there is more value available to you today than you are putting to work, and closing that distance is mostly about the work around the model rather than the model itself. On a build with a large US bank, the team wrote roughly ten lines of supporting code for every line of AI code, and that discipline is what let them trust the output and scale it with confidence. One European bank used the same approach to grow from a handful of small experiments into a full program by crawling before it ran. For a CXO, this turns into growth more directly than most expect. The same agent that quietly handles a routine customer call is the one that surfaces the next relevant offer, so strong adoption shows up in better service and in new revenue together. OpenAI's newest model, #Astra, is a good marker of the moment. It arrives with alignment safeguards and enterprise controls built in, so you can bring it in deliberately and on your own terms. Misaligned priorities. Governance delays. Teams surface them in retrospectives, but without clear ownership, capacity, or a path to resolution, they persist and compound.
