How many times have you flashed a card, then had to sit there redoing the whole setup by hand? 🤔 Too many, for me. So in Armbian Imager 2.0 that step is gone. I spent the last few months reworking it, and the bit I like most is profiles. You set your stuff once (login, Wi-Fi, whatever you need) and the app writes it into the image while it's flashing. Have you ever heard of Containerized Android on SBCs? I talked about it publicly some time ago, and back then I'll admit it still felt like something only a handful of enthusiasts were really exploring 😅: running Android in containers instead of heavy emulators or proprietary solutions. Well, things have changed quite a bit since then. In my latest article for LPI I walk through how Redroid turns an RK3588-based SBC into a lightweight, reproducible, multi-instance Android environment, all managed through Docker Compose 🐳 And the most interesting update? The maintainer has added native Armbian GNU/Linux support with a pre-compiled vendor kernel. No more custom kernel builds (anyone who's been there knows the pain), you start from a standard Armbian image, spin up the container, and within minutes you have Android 13 running with Play Store, GPU passthrough, and scrcpy for desktop mirroring. The numbers on the NanoPC T6 LTS genuinely surprised me: Vulkan score of 3508, multi-core 2770 across 8 cores in parallel, and multiple instances running side by side with no real degradation. Armbian has released images based on Ubuntu 26.04 LTS, codenamed Resolute Raccoon the latest long-term support base. As always, Armbian applies its own platform-optimized kernel, board-specific patches, and tested drivers on top so what you get is a clean, stable foundation across SBCs, PCs, and cloud environments, with no Snap packages, fully compatible with the Ubuntu ecosystem, and no surprises.
