In 1984, after careful examination and incorporation of Stephen Wesner's findings into their research work, Charles Bennett and Gilles Brassard proposed the first quantum cryptography protocol, BB84, a cryptographic scheme that encodes classical bits into qubits. In 2004, two Austrian banks transferred the first quantum keys encrypted money between themselves. In 2016, an international quantum key distribution (QKD) channel was created by the QUESS space mission between China and Austria. After then, quantum cryptography has witnessed a lot of innovations. Findings show that the most developed application of quantum cryptography is quantum key distribution (QKD), which is the process of using quantum communication to establish a shared key between two parties. Quantum cryptography offers several advantages such as secure communication, the potential to encrypt data for longer periods than classical cryptography, detection of eavesdropping, and the ability of quantum key distribution to travel through a noisy channel over a long distance and be secure. This will help in resolving the present days encryption and information security infrastructure problems. The successful demonstration of Peter Shor’s quantum computing algorithm by the IBM scientists on a quantum machine gave the confirmation that quantum computers could be successfully built. Quantum computers utilize quantum computing concepts from quantum material science to prepare information at high speeds better than conventional computer frameworks. Quantum computing utilizes quantum bits or qubits, which can be in multiple states simultaneously due to superposition. This enables quantum computers to process a significant amount of data at the same time, rather than processing data in sequence like traditional computers. Different principles of quantum computing are superposition, entanglement, and decoherence. Superposition allows for the blending of two or more quantum states to produce a new, authentic quantum state, like the wave phenomenon in conventional physics. Utilizing the superposition of qubits, quantum computers can execute simultaneous operations in quantities equivalent to millions. Using quantum entanglement approach of using one particle to infer information about another particle, quantum computers solve complex problems faster.
