Bear market, you need cash. Do you sell your Bitcoin? We debated this at Berlin Blockchain Week some weeks ago with Boro.today and Green Mining. If your house was worth 10x what you paid, you wouldn't sell it for rent money. You'd mortgage it. That's what Bitwala Loan does for Bitcoin. 7% flat, no middleman. Coming later this year.
About us
Bitwala launched in Berlin in 2014, rebranded as Nuri, and went insolvent in 2022. We overpromised, overrisked, and paid for it. Then we rebuilt. Getting Bitcoin into daily life still means a wallet, an exchange, a bank account, and a card to spend. Four separate platforms, none of which you control. Bitwala puts custody and spending in the same place, with your keys staying yours throughout. Self-custody wallet with MPC architecture and no seed phrase required, 24/7 trading at €1 + 1%, and a Visa card accepted at over 100 million merchants worldwide. No merchant needs to accept crypto. You just spend. Personal IBAN for euro deposits and withdrawals. Bitcoin-backed loans on waitlist. 150k+ users. €3b in transaction volume. €500m in assets under management. 4.4 on the App Store. Regulated in Europe, made in Germany. In operation since 2014. Never been hacked.

Fee-Free Month ends 31 July. Join today and the maths works like this. A virtual card costs €0.99. Trades run €1 + 1% each. Paying with crypto on the Card is €0.20 + 1% a time, and an ATM run is €2 + 1%. By the 31st you might have paid €20, €40, maybe more if you're busy. Early August, all of it comes back, in Bitcoin. Every fee a new user pays this month gets refunded: trades, card orders, card payments, recurring buys. This is the last round. There's no August version. Nine days if you start today. Fewer if you don't.

Every Bitcoin loan comes down to a question most people ask last: what happens to your coins if the lender goes under? On most platforms, they hold your Bitcoin "for you." You've seen how that sentence ends. Bitwala Loan works differently. Your Bitcoin sits in a smart contract, not on our balance sheet. If Bitwala vanished tomorrow, the loan and your coins would carry on without us. The terms are deliberately boring: 7% flat, up to 50% LTV. Repay whenever, no penalties. And it's honest about risk, if Bitcoin drops far enough you can be liquidated; if it climbs, that's yours. Launch is getting closer. Join our waitlist: https://bitwala.com/loan

"You got lucky, you bought Bitcoin cheap." There's no luck in it. Nobody caught the bottom. They just stopped waiting for a better price and bought the one in front of them. Many people treat buying Bitcoin like a moment to time perfectly. So they wait, and wait, and the moment never sends a calendar invite. The perfect entry doesn't exist. Starting does. If you've been putting it off, July's the month to stop. Every fee a new Bitwala user pays comes back in Bitcoin, refunded early August. Trades, card, the lot. Skip the wait. Start before 31 July.

We started in Berlin. Then it fell apart, and the same team rebuilt the company from five people and took it across Europe. For three years after that rebuild, we were available almost everywhere we operate and absent from the one country that started it all. This week, that changed. Bitwala is open in Germany. The last of the 30 EEA countries in our regulated footprint, and the one that means the most to us, because it's where this company was born, where it became Nuri, and where it went insolvent before starting again. The full app is live here. The German-language version is on the way. Willkommen zurück: https://lnkd.in/eHXBPqwY

One week into full MiCA enforcement, crypto platforms in the EU now come in two kinds: regulated, or leaving. Bitwala is MiCA-compliant. Wallet, Trade and Card all sit inside one regulated setup, valid across 30 EEA countries. This industry spent a decade treating compliance as something to outrun. It turned out to be what makes crypto actually usable, because owning and spending your coins shouldn't depend on an exchange that might not exist next year. Crypto rebuilt right, with the paperwork to prove it: https://lnkd.in/ekdxMkVw

"Buy the dip." "Don't panic-sell." "Time the market." You've heard it all. We are once again going to say something you already know (but probably ignored): the people who do well aren't timing shit. Allow us to suffocate you with boredom: conviction means buying no matter bull or bear. 120k or 60k, doesn't matter. Set a recurring buy and forget it. The best strategy is one that forgot you exist.

We looked at what Bitwala Card users actually spent on in June. Turns out your currency choice says a lot about you. —BTC: Supermarkets and drugstores. Weekly groceries in Bitcoin. You've explained the halving to at least four people who didn't ask. Your portfolio is down but your fridge is full. —USDC: Cloud servers and AI tools. You're paying Anthropic in stablecoins and you haven't posted on social media since 2021. You're building something. That's all anyone's getting. —ETH: Secondhand fashion. You're buying Birkenstocks with ETH and you don't owe anyone an explanation. —EUR: Gaming and travel. You have a crypto card and you're using it to buy PlayStation games in euros. No judgement. Which one are you?

Fee-Free Month. May: 1 winner. June: 10 winners. July: everyone wins. Every fee a new Bitwala user pays in July gets refunded in Bitcoin. Trading fees, card fees, the lot. Whatever you rack up, it comes back in BTC beginning of August. We're either getting more generous or less sane. Probably both. Last round. After July, fees are just fees.
