ICYMI: Last week I wrote about the PSA Crypto API, how it enables leveraging security features across heterogeneous hardware, and why it may ease the transition to post-quantum cryptography on MCU-class devices. We look at use of the API in practice with the Golioth (Canonical) `signy` library on Nordic Semiconductor (Arm on The Zephyr Project) and Espressif Systems (Xtensa / RISC-V on esp-idf / FreeRTOS) devices. We also look at the upcoming support for post-quantum crypto in MbedTLS / TF-PSA-Crypto with the inclusion of the new PQC driver based on the Post-Quantum Cryptography Alliance `mldsa-native` library. #embedded #security #postquantum

This might be our best end-to-end demo yet: a Bluetooth node talking to the internet with edge inference (do I get to call this "physical AI"? 😂 ) This takes a gesture recognition edge inference (TinyML) model from Edge Impulse, puts it onto an nRF52840 from Nordic Semiconductor, displays the output on a Golioth Tikk board (made by yours truly), then packetizes the data and encrypts it with Golioth's Pouch, and sends it through a Bluetooth Gateway implmentation running as a Canonical Snap on Qualcomm iQ9 hardware that was running an entirely different (awesome) demo with local processing. That data transited through the gateway without the gateway being able to decrypt the data and it was shuttled up to the Golioth Cloud, where it used Pipelines to route data into the internal LightDB Stream timeseries database. That could have just as easily been another service on the internet, like routing out to a 3rd party database provider or hyperscaler infrastructure. Storing access keys in your IoT backend is a security liability. Golioth supports OpenID Connect for PKI provider authentication, so you don't have to. Your project requests a signed JWT from Golioth's ID Provider, attaches it to the request, and AWS verifies it using Golioth's public key. No key material stored.
