modern intimacy®

About us

Founded by Eva Goicochea, maude® is a modern, direct-to-consumer sexual wellness startup that launched in April 2018 and has been featured in The New York Times, Vogue, Forbes, and Fast Company, amongst others. In July of 2019, maude was one of CircleUp’s 25, an "annual award recognizing some of the most innovative consumer brands on the market”, part of The Lead’s Foremost 50 in both 2020 and 2021, and has been heralded as “redefining the sex essentials industry for modern consumers” by Forbes. By eschewing the traditional approach through quality, simplicity, and inclusivity, maude is setting new standards for sexual wellness and works closely with factories to create body-safe, accessible essentials for all. maude is backed by True Beauty Ventures, Fable Investments (under Natura&Co), True, RRE Ventures, CASSIUS Family, Endeavor, and angels including Benjamin Millepied and Dakota Johnson, amongst others. In 2022, we launched in Sephora, one of the first sexual wellness brands ever carried in the retailer’s 52-year history. In 2022, we announced partnerships with Advocates for Youth and SIECUS, organizations dedicated to sexual health access and education. This is modern intimacy.®

We’re proud to share that maude founder Éva Goicochea has been named Changemaker of the Year in the 2025 BeautyMatter Awards. It’s more than a personal recognition, it’s a signal that the category we’ve been working to redefine is being seen for what it is: essential, human, and worthy of thoughtful design. Thank you to BeautyMatter for the honor and continued advocacy, and to our community for helping move the conversation (and culture) forward. #beautymatterawards #changemaker #maude

Well, this was unexpected. In a time when the world feels increasingly backwards, I’ve been named Changemaker of the Year in the 2025 BeautyMatter Awards—and it really does mean a lot, both to me and the maude team. Not just because it’s a win during a cultural regression, but because it brings us one step closer to the moment when everyone finally goes: “Wait...this category is just body care, isn’t it?” I walked through a major retailer yesterday and the body care section looked like a dream—elevated, thoughtful, beautifully merchandised. Then I turned a corner and found our category: dimly lit, tucked by the bathrooms, and styled like a 2007 clearance bin. That contrast? That’s exactly why we do the work. Thank you to BeautyMatter, Kelly Kovack, John Cafarelli and the judges for recognizing the effort (and always advocating for great design). And to our small-but-mighty team: your grit, heart, and sharp eyes for detail make maude what it is. P.S. Our fear of being human—and our lack of equity—is at the root of so much of what holds the world back. Here’s hoping this, too, is a lightbulb that finally goes off in all of our heads. Also: I had to repost this as it was censor*d before. The irony. https://lnkd.in/eZmQ9Fh4

We’ve always been in it for the long game. The recognition is a nice bonus. Honored to share that our founder Éva Goicochea is a finalist for Changemaker of the Year in the 2025 BeautyMatter Awards. The maude team was also recognized for Best Content Activation for our Paris Fashion Week collaboration with Stella McCartney. Thank you to BeautyMatter, and congrats to this year’s finalists.

In 2022, the industry declared sexual wellness the next big thing. Everyone wanted in—trend reports, new brands, hot takes. But we’ve always believed this isn't a trend—it’s a long-overdue category that deserves to be treated with nuance, design, and staying power. That’s why I’m honored to be named a finalist in the Changemaker of the Year category in the 2025 BeautyMatter Awards—and proud that maude was also recognized for Best Content Activation for our Paris Fashion Week collaboration with Stella McCartney. Since our launch, maude has been building the foundation for what this space could look like: safe, inclusive, elevated, and essential. We’ve weathered the hype cycle and the inevitable copycats (we did usher in the era of grey vibes), not by chasing momentum, but by doing the quiet, consistent work of redefining modern intimacy. To be recognized by BeautyMatter (Kelly Kovack and John Cafarelli)—a platform that prizes merit over marketing—is a reminder that meaningful change is rarely loud. Sometimes, it’s steady. Thank you to our small but mighty team, our thoughtful investors (including the incredible True Beauty Ventures—also recognized this year), and the judges for seeing the work. Congrats to our fellow finalists. We’re in good company. https://lnkd.in/d_hjsy2p

When we launched maude , we set out to change the conversation around s*xual wellness. Today, we’re seeing an exciting shift as the category goes mainstream, gaining visibility across channels, including Amazon, made possible with our partners at Front Row (and their incredible team Madigan Lyden, Alex Beer, etc.). I’m thrilled to join an amazing group of experts on Wednesday, March 19 at 1:00 p.m. EST for a Front Row x CEW (Cosmetic Executive Women) webinar to talk about innovation, category growth, and what it takes to build a disruptive brand in women’s health during Women’s History Month. Open to members and non-members. Join us! Register here: https://lnkd.in/eTqMtNpv

Hot off the press from Paris Fashion Week: maude has officially made its runway debut. As part of our continued mission to champion everyday intimacy, we’ve partnered with Stella McCartney for her Winter 2025 runway show, Laptop to Lapdance—a collection celebrating the modern working woman and the confidence, ambition, and sexuality she carries through every aspect of her life. In the workplace-inspired show, maude’s spot was featured as an essential desk accessory, symbolizing how intimacy seamlessly fits into daily routines. The Maudern was also highlighted in The Stella Times, and VIP guests received maude’s products. This collaboration places sexual wellness on one of the world’s most influential stages, reinforcing our commitment to integrating intimacy into every facet of life—now, including fashion. #getmaude #StellaMcCartney #ParisFashionWeek #LaptopToLapdance #SexualWellness #StellaWinter25

🏛️ OUR SECOND MUSEUM IN A MONTH 🏛️ Thrilled to finally announce the opening of our maude exhibit Modern S*x: 100 Years of Design and Decency at the Museum of Sex Miami (designed by Snøhetta), a project I've had the privilege to co-curate with Dakota Johnson. This exhibit explores the fascinating evolution of sexual health products and media in the U.S., from the coded marketing of "feminine hygiene" in the 1920s to today’s high-tech products. As cultural norms shift, this retrospective reflects our journey from secrecy to openness, showcasing how design and media shape perceptions around intimacy and wellness. And while we’ve made progress, our brand remains restricted on platforms like Meta (while male-founded brands do not), highlighting the ongoing challenges in normalizing intimate wellness for all people. If you're in Miami, come experience the exhibit—a testament to a century of progress, innovation, and the work still ahead to achieve true accessibility and understanding.
