Building scalable, secure, and trustworthy multi-agent systems for the agentic web. Follow me for daily posts on trusted multi-agent systems.

The Computer History Museum is going to be wild this week. IIW, VRM Day, and AIW are coming over the next few days, and I’m looking forward to an incredible discussions of the future of digital identity, trust, and the emerging agentic web. For those who haven’t been, 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐭 𝐈𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐩 (IIW) is one of the longest-running (20+ years!) and most open community gatherings in the identity space. It's where developers, researchers, policymakers, and builders come together to shape the protocols that make the internet more human-centric. OpenID, OAuth, and Decentralized Identifiers were all developed at it, and I'm looking forward to seeing us tackle Agent Identity. VRM Day (𝐕𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐫 𝐑𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐃𝐚𝐲) kicks off the week by focusing on how individuals can manage their own data and relationships with organizations And finally, this year, we’re adding AIW : the 𝐀𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐭 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐩, a new sister event to IIW that dives into AI agents, autonomy, and trust in multi-agent systems. If you care about the agentic web, you won’t want to miss it. All these are unconference style. So there's lots of room to drive the conversation as you want. Don’t forget to sign up! Why is AI breaking IGA? Don't miss Episode 148.5 with Rohit Khare and Andor Kesselman on the topic of the "Governing risk in the AI Era" 📅 Date: Tuesday, Oct 14 ⏰ Time: at 10:00am PST / 1:00pm EST / 19:00 CEST 🔔 Watch: https://lnkd.in/g27kt_6H 📝 Episode notes: https://gluu.co/ioh-148.5 Traditional identity governance has failed to keep up with dynamic, distributed systems — Trust Governance unifies federation, formal policy verification, continuous data pipelines and dynamic authorization. Join us to explore how CISOs can move beyond entitlement reviews to provable, automated governance that plays nice with CI/CD, in order to govern with proof. What is Dynamic Security Orchestration? Tune in to Episode 147 with Darran Rolls to find out! 📅 Date: Tuesday, Oct 7 ⏰ Time: at 10:00am PST / 1:00pm EST / 19:00 CEST 🔔 Add to Calendar: https://lnkd.in/gaksZYCY 📝 Episode notes: https://gluu.co/ioh-147 What is Dynamic security orchestration? How can enterprises weave contextual identity signals into access decisions. In this session, we’ll explore how continuous, contextual identity and just-in-time controls can unlock safer, more adaptive governance without ripping and replacing what you already have. We'll discuss how a new identity component--the "Identity Event Hub"--can receive identity relevant events, end sessions, notify teams and initiate identity operations to provision/deprovision access. Beyond automation: The rise of dynamic security orchestration. Lori Robinson, Ian Glazer and Mat Hamlin take the stage at SailPoint Navigate 2025 in the hub of identity: Austin Texas. ⚡ No one wants to rip and replace existing infrastructure ⚡ Is your enterprise Entitlement Catalog perfect? ⚡ What do entitlements do v what they should do? ⚡ Continuous identity is contextual ⚡ Contextual information has been out of reach of IDP / IGA ⚡ Silos of policies make it hard to govern: describe a policy once and see it manifest across identity infrastructure ⚡ Join, move, leave, login -- we need more vectors for policy enforcement ⚡ There is gold in your Entitlement catalog--guiding point for access.. wherever you are its a start ⚡ Where you can, (cloud, saas), move to just in time access, or just in time provisioning as a last resort ⚡ Put in safety net policy -- i.e. move to declarative security, or "universal statement" Great talk by Ian!!!

🌐 The agent revolution isn’t coming—it’s here. These were my takeaways from Identerati Office Hours 145 with guests Arnaud Lacour from Ping Identity and Richard Bird from Singulr AI on the topic of " ⚡ Agent identity taxonomy -- what does the agent do and how does that change over time. There are a wide array of agents with different capabilities (science fiction analogy: is it an "Agriculture-bot" or a "Security-bot")--different risk and policies are required based on the type of agent you are governing. ⚡ Shoe-horning agents into existing identity goverance platforms won't work, and it will cost you a bunch of money as the numbers of identities grows exponentially. ⚡ The tech industry is under huge pressure to deliver AI security (weeks/months). But the time for consensus and careful engineering of new standards really be accelerated? If so, by how much? ⚡ Tokens themselves aren't the problem. What we need are new types of tokens, new flows to obtain tokens, and new trust frameworks to enable consumption of tokens across domain boundaries. Watch: https://lnkd.in/gMeEK39Z

Episode 145: Breaking Identity With AI Agents Dive into the emerging challenges of AI identity, access, and accountability, especially for agents that can act on behalf of humans. Persona shadowing? Capability tokens? Delegation chains? How can AI agents act on our behalf while preserving traceability and least-privilege access? We'll discuss some of the standards (or lack thereof), especially OAuth, WIMSE, OpenID, FIDO and others. Finally, we’ll connect all this to the upcoming Agentic Internet Workshop — a neutral space for protocol innovators to collaborate on agent identity solutions--at the Computer History Museam in Mountain View, CA... be there are be square!

Don't miss Identerati Office Hours 143 with Justin McCarthy from StrongDM, the company behind *BAC (star-bac...). Here were my takeaways from the interview: ⚡ The world is very complex, and it's important to get all the "nouns" and "verbs" right: nouns are resources (e.g. "car"); verbs are actions (e.g. "drive"). Cedar provides a great language and syntax to model the complexity, especially of sharing data. ⚡ Computers are really fast. The quantity of data produced for security events is relatively small--probably a lot less vectors then we use to make shopping recommendations. There is prior art to solve how to move and process this data, and it can be accomplished in a few microflips. ⚡ Maybe it doesn't matter whether you organize by person or resource. The *BAC says "whatever" to your access control plan... as long as it can be unified under a common policy syntax. ⚡ Zero Trust is a state of enlightenment that no organization has ever attained. But it's a useful pattern for us to think about security architecture. https://lnkd.in/gYMZb2qE
