AI may primarily be an efficiency tool in the short term – but in the long run, it can be foundational to a company’s strategy.   That was one of the central takeaways from a recent event at GLG New York, where we welcomed clients, experts, and colleagues for an evening focused on AI’s continuing disruption of the investment space.  A big thank you to the experts who shared their insight in roundtables and a panel discussion, moderated by our own Nash Wedderburn, MBA: 👉 Tom L., former Head of Data Science at Advent International 👉 Cerwin M., former Global Head of Transformation – Technology at State Street 👉 Ben Reeves, former Chief Investment Officer at Wealthsimple.inc  The experts agreed that shrewd investors will recognize AI’s power to drive smarter decisions, stronger performance, and future value in years and decades – as well as the importance of human oversight and governance at every step of the way.  The evening closed with a lively happy hour to keep the conversations going.

"I never get enough." For supply chain expert Angela Brunk, GLG calls feed her natural curiosity. More than a transfer of knowledge, the conversations provide an outlet to learn and solve new problems, she told us. The impulse drove her 30-year career at Caterpillar – and still gets her excited to talk through complex questions in industrial logistics with GLG clients. 🧩 "I want to understand how the puzzle pieces fit together. GLG just published a report based on our survey of 300+ senior business leaders across Asia-Pacific, which reveals how firms throughout the region aren’t just mitigating risks, but pursuing big new opportunities.    You can check out the full “Navigating Trade and Tariffs 2025” report here: https://ter.li/9sy9rk    A few key takeaways:  ➡️ Half of respondents have shifted their market focus away from the U.S.  ➡️ Of Asia-Pacific automotive and aerospace exporters who are adjusting their manufacturing footprints, 52% favor the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) as a manufacturing location.  ➡️ In China, 66% of exporters are looking to target their sales and marketing efforts beyond the U.S., with 71% citing ASEAN as a region of focus.    It’s seismic shifts like these that make Asia-Pacific the most exciting and interesting region in the world to do business. For Dr. Raphaëlle O'CONNOR, GLG opened a new chapter in her career.     Over the course of her 20+ years in food and nutrition science, she developed deep, specialized expertise. But it wasn’t until she joined GLG’s network in 2023 that she realized just how valuable her insight was.    We asked Dr. O’Connor what it was like to start sharing her knowledge with GLG clients.     “It was extremely empowering,” she said, to offer her perspective to a client who was excited to speak with her. The experience gave her a fresh outlook on her decades in a niche field.   “This is a new world that’s opened to me," she told us. “And it wouldn’t have happened without a catalyst like GLG.”
