I met Imran A. at Podcast Movement in 2025, and I loved listening to him talk about the Great Pods | USC Incubator Startup refresh he was working on especially the massive amount of enthusiasm he had for what he was building.
So it was a very pleasant surprise to get a message from him letting me know that the Great Pods review of The Cancer Caregiver Podcast was included in the first Review Digest issued this week.
One of the things I appreciate about Great Pods is the philosophy behind it.
Podcast discovery can feel like an endless scroll of algorithms, charts and recommendations without much context.
Great Pods takes a different approach: professional reviews, community ratings and, importantly, transparency around who is doing the recommending.
Every critic has a name. Reviews are attributed. Listeners can see who made the recommendation and why.
In my case, Frank Racioppi of Ear Worthy wrote the review of The Cancer Caregiver Podcast, thank you, Frank!
That human element matters.
Especially in podcasting, where there are so many thoughtful independent shows doing meaningful work that may never appear at the top of a chart.
So yes, I’m very grateful to see The Cancer Caregiver Podcast included this week.
But I’m also happy for the chance to point people toward a company working to make it easier for good podcasts, and the people creating them, to be discovered.
Congrats on the refresh, Imran.
And thanks, Captain Ron. 😉
