How can AI and remote sensing help make marine litter visible even in the most remote regions of the Arctic? As part of our joint project with BioConsult SH and AquaEcology, we are developing innovative approaches for drone-based monitoring of beach litter along Arctic coastlines. A key component of this effort is the international workshop taking place on 10–11 August 2026 in Sisimiut, Greenland. We look forward to an international exchange on innovative approaches to environmental monitoring and the protection of Arctic coastal ecosystems. More information can be found in the post below. ⬇️
🌍 Workshop on Drone-Based Beach Litter Monitoring in the Arctic We are pleased to announce that registration is now open for our workshop on Drone-Based Beach Litter Monitoring in the Arctic, taking place on 10–11 August 2026 in Sisimiut, Greenland. The workshop is organized by BioConsult SH, AquaEcology GmbH & Co. KG, and Deutsches Forschungszentrum für Künstliche Intelligenz (DFKI) as part of the project “Beach Litter Monitoring on Arctic Coasts Using Remote Sensing and Artificial Intelligence”, conducted on behalf of the Umweltbundesamt - German Environment Agency (UBA). Participants can join either in person in Sisimiut or online, making the event accessible to an international audience interested in Arctic environmental monitoring, remote sensing, AI applications, and marine litter assessment. ⏰ Workshop dates: 10–11 August 2026 📍 Location: Sisimiut, Greenland & Online (Hybrid Format) ⏳ Registration deadline: 15 July 2026 🔗 Register here: https://lnkd.in/dEM66QgC If you have any questions regarding the workshop, participation, or the agenda, please feel free to contact me directly (dm).
