Heroku has been a go-to platform for years. For many teams, it was the easiest way to get an app online. But as projects grow, so do the expectations around flexibility, visibility, and control. If you’re starting to think about what comes next, we put together a guide on what moving away from Heroku actually looks like in practice and what to expect when switching to Divio. 👉 Read the article: https://lnkd.in/eQuYEdZ7

What happens when a development team stops fighting their hosting setup? For Pixel Actions, the difference was significant. Before switching to Divio, a lot of time was going into infrastructure work: managing servers, fixing environments, maintaining scripts, and troubleshooting deployments just to keep Django projects running smoothly. Once that complexity disappeared, the team could focus fully on building and delivering for their clients. The impact: - Infrastructure costs dropped from $75,000 to $24,000 per year - 68% reduction in annual costs - 351 hours saved every month - 117 applications now managed on the platform - 30% efficiency increase More importantly, they’re now able to take on larger and more demanding projects without growing the team.

Wrapping up a few great days at DjangoCon Europe 🇬🇷 It’s been a packed schedule of talks, conversations, and meeting people from across the Django community. A few highlights from our side: We enjoyed the keynote on agentic coding by Marlene Mhangami. A practical look at how AI agents are starting to fit into real development workflows. Carlton Gibson’s talk on static islands and dynamic architectures was another standout. Nice to see observability getting more attention with Laís Carvalho's session on debugging Django apps beyond print(). A strong reminder that having the right signals in place makes debugging faster and far less guesswork. Also, a big thank you to Paolo Melchiorre for bringing people together for dinner mid-week. Always nice to step away from the talks and have more informal conversations. Great to have Joel Burch, Valentinos Evripidou and Mariusz Felisiak there. Overall, a lot of good discussions, new ideas, and familiar faces. Until next time 👋

Last week’s team meeting didn’t involve slides. We had Nonna teaching us how to make "Gnocchi alla Sorrentina" instead 🍝 Things got messy along the way. Flour and tomato sauce ended up too close to laptops, which wasn’t exactly planned. Some had family joining in, and we even got a quick surprise hello from a colleague currently on a sabbatical somewhere around the world 🌍 In the end, it all came together and the gnocchi were really good. Hard to go back to normal meetings after this.
