The Digital Public Goods Alliance is advancing its commitment to openness and usability for #DigitalPublicGoods. The DPGA Secretariat has proposed a key enhancement to the criteria for #OpenData sets and #OpenContent collections to be recognised as #DPGs. In consultation with Creative Commons and Open Knowledge Foundation, this proposal aims to: 📈 Increase trust and confidence in DPGs by eliminating legal uncertainties 🌐 Enhance accessibility and usability of all DPG solutions 🚀 Foster innovation without barriers Following public comment and governance review, the new requirement will take effect under the #DPGStandard on Sept 1, 2024. Discover how this change will impact the digital public goods ecosystem in this blog post by our Standards Lead, Amreen Taneja. https://lnkd.in/dVEKqjJx

Digital Public Goods Alliance reposted this
DIGITAL PUBLIC GOOD | We are so proud that HRMI's Rights Tracker has just been re-certified as a Digital Public Good by the United Nations-backed Digital Public Goods Alliance . It's a rigorous process, and needs to be done annually to make sure that all the DPGs are still contributing to the world in an open, accessible way. We have worked hard over many years to make human rights data available and accessible to all kinds of people, for the common good. Do go and visit the Rights Tracker! Check out our scores for your country or on an issue you care about, like food security, freedom of assembly, or the right to healthcare. RightsTracker.org

Through #RebootTheEarth, the DPGA Secretariat has been working with FAO, Salesforce, and the United Nations Office of Information and Communications Technology to identify #OpenSource solutions that can help address climate change. The winners recently sat down with UN Assistant Secretary General & Chief Information Technology Officer Bernardo Mariano Junior, and Felipe Paullier Olivera, UN Assistant Secretary General for Youth Affairs. Watch the interview below, and stay tuned for updates as the DPGA works with these solutions to become #DigitalPublicGoods in the months ahead! https://lnkd.in/ghR4ihAN
