xWave Technologies, an Irish Healthtech start-up, today announced that it has won its first competitive UK tender covering 8 NHS Trusts in the Northeast of England. xWave will provide its proprietary clinical decision support (CDS) software to GPs across the region serving over 3 million patients, helping them access the right diagnostic test for patients at the right time. Ministers Peter Burke and Dara Calleary, today launched a refresh of the National AI Strategy. This Refresh takes account of the significant developments in AI technology and regulation since the original Strategy was published in 2021. The Refresh builds on the solid foundations in place and aims to balance innovation with proportionate regulation and trust-building measures. Some of the new measures include; • Establishing an AI regulatory sandbox to foster innovation in AI, • Creating a National AI Research Nexus with a unified identity, • Creating a safe space where civil and public servants are encouraged to experiment with AI tools, • Commissioning a landmark study on the potential impacts of AI (including generative AI) and other advanced technologies on key sectors of the Irish economy, • Updating the 2022 study on AI skills of the Expert Group on Future Skills Needs, • Expanding the range of digital upskilling and reskilling initiatives. The four-day trade mission will promote the island of Ireland as a centre for excellence and innovation for regtech, fintech and financial services, and celebrate the success of Irish and Northern Ireland fintech and financial services companies in Singapore and across the Asia Pacific market. Enterprise Ireland hosted the inaugural Sustainable Enterprise Summit, which brought together key stakeholders from across the global sector, focusing on highlighting the opportunities that exist for Irish companies in the sustainability space. The key themes for this year’s knowledge and networking event, hosted at the Dublin Royal Convention Centre, were ‘Sustainability Beginnings & Destinations, Growth Catalysts, and Commercial & Legislative Drivers’. Delivered with support from the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment, the Sustainable Enterprise Summit brought together over 500 industry leaders, policymakers, and sustainability experts to explore the potential for Irish enterprises to capture new global opportunities as the sustainable transition accelerates. There was an incredible lineup of speakers, including industry leaders from Diageo, Dairygold Co-Operative Society Ltd, Techrete UK & Ireland, Aerogen, and many more. Michael Carey, Chairman of Enterprise Ireland, delivering the opening address at this year’s event, said: “As we look toward our ambitious 2030 and 2050 targets, we recognise there is more to do. Enterprise Ireland will continue to strengthen its support for businesses on this journey over the coming years, enabling companies to turn sustainability from a challenge into a competitive advantage. I am confident that Irish enterprise can, and will, rise to the sustainability challenge.”

Precast concrete façade specialist Techrete UK & Ireland has launched a new range of sustainable concrete products, which target a 50% reduction in embodied carbon. The company said its new product line positions it at the forefront of innovation in green construction materials as the company approaches its 40th anniversary. Enterprise Ireland has approved over €55m in funding to support the decarbonisation of Irish businesses, with the funding benefitting more than 400 Irish companies since June 2022. Approved under the Environmental Aid scheme and Enterprise Ireland's Green Transition Fund, the funding has helped to reduce CO2 emissions by an estimated 130,000 tonnes. The Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment also allocated a further €300m in June this year under the Environmental Aid scheme to support Enterprise Ireland’s broader commitment to advancing sustainable growth among Irish companies. More than 500 industry leaders, policymakers, and sustainability experts are attending Enterprise Ireland’s inaugural Sustainable Enterprise Summit today in the Dublin Royal Convention Centre.
