Our MCP is especially useful for tasks that would otherwise take a lot of time. 👀 Need to create hundreds (or even thousands) of scenes at once? Just let MCP handle it while you focus on something more important. In this example, we’re creating 1,000 scenes inside a single folder. And thanks to performance improvements we’ve made along the way, it doesn’t slow Excalidraw+ down at all. ⚡

Still a bit rough around the edges, but already useful 🔥 You can use our MCP for generating diagrams with local context too! Have you already tried it? 🤔 #Excalidraw #MCP #AI #Automation #Productivity #Diagrams #VisualContent

Excalidraw in May 🌸 Before we head into the weekend, here’s a quick recap of everything that happened in Excalidraw last month. May brought new ways to collaborate, reuse your work, and connect Excalidraw to your existing tools and workflows – including the public beta of our API and MCP, guest comments, reusable presentation templates, and more. The May edition of Excalinews is now live. Take a look at what we’ve been building, refining, and sharing over the past month. 👇 #newsletter #excalinews #mayrecap #productupdates #visualthinking #community

Our MCP isn’t great only for workspace-related tasks – you can also use it to generate visual content. 👀 And we’ll be showing you what you can do with it, starting with a simple pixel-art Baby Yoda. And psst… our team is already working on making these generations even better as we speak. Check the comments below for some of the latest tweaks (not in production yet). 😏 #Excalidraw #MCP #AI #Automation #Productivity #PixelArt #VisualContent

Wondering what to use the Excalidraw+ MCP for? 👀 For example: bulk-inviting users to your workspace. 💪 Let your AI do the repetitive work while you focus on the important stuff 😏 #Excalidraw #MCP #AI #Automation #Productivity #KeepItSimple

In case you ever wondered how Excalidraw’s “hand-drawn” magic actually works, here’s a really nice breakdown by Shruti Shamdasani 😏 #Excalidraw #Frontend #WebDev #SystemDesign
I drew Excalidraw's internals... in Excalidraw. You've used it. The wobbly rectangles, the hand-drawn feel. But have you ever wondered — how does that actually work? I went down the rabbit hole today. Read the source code. Here's the one thing that surprised me most: That "sketchy" look? It's not a filter. It's not a texture. Every line you draw is a bezier curve. Think of it like a wire — you pin both ends, and you have two invisible "handles" in between that pull the wire into a shape. Push the handles close to the line — it stays straight. Pull them away — it curves. Excalidraw (or more specifically rough.js) takes those handles and shifts them slightly off-axis — at random. Just enough to look human. That's it. That's the whole trick. Now here's where it gets interesting. Canvas is not like a div. A div remembers it exists — you can move it, style it, update it. Canvas is just a whiteboard. Pixels with no memory, no identity. So when anything moves, Excalidraw can't just "update" that one shape. It wipes the entire whiteboard and redraws everything from scratch. Every element. Every frame. Which means without a cache — it would regenerate those random handle positions on every single repaint. New random numbers every frame. Your rectangle would visually shake. It would look broken. So Excalidraw saves the wobble the first time it draws your shape. Every frame after that, same stored wobble, no recalculation. Stable. It only recalculates when you actually change something — resize the shape, change the stroke. Because the old wobble no longer fits the new dimensions. One small cache. One big design decision. roughjs makes the wobble. Excalidraw makes sure you never notice it changing. #frontend #excalidraw #systemdesign #webdev

Guest comments are finally here in Excalidraw+ 💬 Guests can now join async conversations directly on shared scenes. You still control permissions separately: – canvas → view or edit – comments → off, view, or write Guests need to be signed in so notifications work properly (and public scenes don’t become spam magnets 💪) A small but important collaboration upgrade ✌️ #FeatureRelease #Collaboration #ProductUpdates #Comments #Plus

Our API & MCP are now in public beta ✨ With the API, you can programmatically manage: * scenes/drawings, * collections, * workspaces, * team members. And with MCP, you can generate diagrams, presentations, wireframes, and other visual content directly from your own context – codebases, docs, filesystems, and more. We also added per-key permissions, so your AI agent can do useful things without accidentally pressing the big red DELETE button 😄 This is still very much evolving and we’ll keep expanding it with more endpoints and features based on feedback. Documentation can be found here: https://lnkd.in/dxkKBp-R Mind your context window and happy drawing ✌️ #Excalidraw #API #MCP #AI #Developers #KeepItSimple
