𝟮𝟳 𝗛𝗮𝗿𝘀𝗵 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗿 𝗧𝗿𝘂𝘁𝗵𝘀 𝗜 𝗪𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗜 𝗞𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗕𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 It’s the 27th of October. Here are 27 harsh career truths I wish I knew before: 1/ Every job is a stepping stone. Absorb, contribute, and keep evolving. 2/ Answers don’t arrive on a silver platter—seek them out. 3/ Mistakes are unavoidable, but so is the growth they spark. 4/ First impressions last longer than you’d like. 5/ Trust is valuable, but verification is essential. 6/ Self-doubt is an obstacle only you can dismantle. 7/ You’re more capable than you realise—stretch beyond comfort. 8/ Being in the right industry matters as much as your skills. 9/ Your reputation precedes you; invest in it. 10/ If you’re anxious, it’s often a cue to make a move. 11/ Niche industries can offer big opportunities if you’re open to them. 12/ Seek leverage, whether through networks, unique skills, or new insights. 13/ Work friendships are priceless, but boundaries are wise. 14/ Hard work isn’t just a cliché—it’s a non-negotiable. 15/ Growth isn’t handed over; it’s earned, even if it takes longer than you’d hope. 16/ Blame is easy; accountability is powerful. 17/ Failures don’t define you, but how you handle them will. 18/ There’s a fine line between humility and selling yourself short—know your value. 19/ Patience is a skill; practise it for long-term success. 20/ Learning doesn’t end when the workday does—find ways to expand continuously. 21/ Building credibility takes years; losing it can take moments. 22/ Success doesn’t come by chance—it’s built, brick by brick. 23/ Your network is your net worth—invest in relationships. 24/ Feedback is a gift, even if it stings—embrace it. 25/ Career paths aren’t linear; be adaptable and open to changes. 26/ Burnout is real; prioritise your well-being to sustain your performance. 27/ There’s no one-size-fits-all recipe for success; define it on your own terms. Remember: there are no shortcuts. Keep pushing, keep learning, and never forget your purpose. What’s one career lesson that’s reshaped your journey? Let me know in the comments below ⬇️ P.S. Your title doesn't make you a leader. How you choose to treat your team does. The best leaders make people feel valued and seen. Appreciation is the greatest gift you can give your team - it costs nothing but means everything. What to do as a leader: ✅ Appreciate impact and contributions: ↳ Even a simple thank you goes a long way. ↳ Show genuine appreciation regularly, not just during reviews. ✅ Provide growth opportunities: ↳ Listen and understand their career aspirations. ↳ Create paths for advancement before they look elsewhere. ✅ Ask for their input when making decisions: ↳ Appreciate diverse perspectives. ↳ Create an environment where every voice matters. ✅ Make time for meaningful 1-on-1s: ↳ Ensure your meetings are safe spaces for honest discussions. ↳ Build trust through active listening. ✅ Ensure fair compensation: ↳ Regularly review and adjust compensations and benefits. ↳ Everyone deserves to be paid for their worth. What to avoid as a leader: ❌ Taking people for granted: ↳ Not feeling valued is a top reason people disengage and leave. ❌ Taking credit for your team's work: ↳ Claiming their achievements as your own destroys trust. ↳ Celebrate successes and learnings. ❌ Rewarding your high-performers with more work: ↳ Reward them by supporting their career aspirations instead. ↳ Help them grow; don't just add to their plate. ❌ Setting unrealistic goals: ↳ Don't set targets that will require regular overwork. ↳ Success shouldn't come at the cost of well-being. ❌ Disrespecting personal time and boundaries: ↳ Expecting 24x7 availability leads to burnout. ↳ Respect their lives outside of work. Be the leader you wish you had. What's one small gesture from a leader that made you feel truly valued? Let me know in the comments ⬇️ ♻️ Repost to build healthier work cultures. 🔔 Follow Dora Vanourek for more.

At Devsinc, caring for our community’s well-being is at the heart of what we do. This October, we came together for meaningful sessions on breast cancer awareness, with inspirational speeches from our Founder & CEO, Mr. Usman Asif and senior management emphasizing the crucial role of early detection and self-care. To honor those impacted by breast cancer, we lit up D Tower in "Devpink," a glowing symbol of hope and resilience. This small act is our way of showing solidarity and keeping the conversation about breast cancer awareness alive. If you’re reading this, remember—you are valued, and your health matters. Take time to care for yourself. #BreastCancer #EarlyDetection #Devsinc #BCCWW

PR Strategy. 25+ yrs building visibility, credibility & authority for giants like P&G, Microsoft, Amex. Now I help small business & personal brands grow 🙌 🚀

Quiet doesn’t mean shy and invisible. Introverts excel at building knowledge and relationships. By leveraging your natural strengths, you  can become a PR powerhouse without changing who you are. 1. Play to your strengths: ↳ Introverts are a great listeners which gives you an edge when dealing with media. 2. You communicate thoughtfully: ↳ Introverts don’t communicate for the sake of it. When you speak it’s for a reason. 3. For Stephanie Nuesi — a financial analyst based in Google’s Chicago office — working at Google wasn’t exactly a surprise. “I was born and raised in the Dominican Republic and came to the U.S. in 2015. My journey with Google started a few years later in 2018, when I saw a Google office from afar, pointed at it, and told my mom I would work there one day. Two years later, I called her to tell her I got a job offer from Google.” Outside of her main role as a financial analyst, Stephanie also serves as the VP of Marketing for HOLA Finance: our employee resource group for Latinx finance Googlers. “I’m tasked with ensuring all our Latinx talent in Finance at Google learn about the different resources available to help them grow professionally.” Additionally, Stephanie volunteers at the Association of Latino Professionals for America, and mentors students from across Latin America. “It’s important for me to give back to the community and help our Latinx Googler community become the next leaders of tomorrow.” As we celebrate #HispanicHeritageMonth, we’re sharing some of the advice that Stephanie shares with anyone interested in following her footsteps!

    • Don’t do it alone: Build a support network early on — including using social media to build connections with alumni, classmates, friends. Find a mentor and seek feedback.

All it takes is one yes: Believe in yourself, and don't give up if you get rejected. I got many rejections before I landed my one "yes.”

Put in the work: Work on your resume, practice interview questions, and strive to be the best candidate for the role you want.

Continue learning: Always be learning! The best way to become marketable is to stay up to date with the latest skills required for your desired role.

Believe in yourself: Don't let your background feel like a liability. You're good enough!
