Fractionals United®

Professional Organizations

A community for all senior leaders that are current or aspiring fractionals.

About us

Fractional leadership (https://www.fractionaldefined.com/) is growing rapidly, but it comes with unique challenges that consultants and other part-time workers don't face. As a Fractional COO, Karina Mikhli realized fractionals needed a place to connect, collaborate, and learn from each other—plus a trusted resource for businesses seeking fractional talent. That's what Fractionals United® is. If you're a current or aspiring fractional leader looking for true community—a place to connect, collaborate, and learn from peers—we'd love to have you. Important to know: We're not a lead generation service or job board. While members do find opportunities through relationships they build here, the value comes from genuine engagement, shared insights, and the supportive network you'll develop with fellow fractional leaders. Ready to join? Apply at https://bit.ly/frunapp for our engaged Slack community. 7-day free trial, then just $10/month or $100/year. Need to hire a fractional leader? Post your opportunity here (https://coda.io/form/Fractionals-United-Job-Submission_dj1AZ0lhlZI) to connect with our vetted community of experienced professionals. ***We define fractionals as part-time senior leadership roles. Unlike regular consulting, they're embedded within the team; unlike other part-time work, they hold leadership authority. • There’s a difference between doing something to get somewhere, and doing it because it’s where you want to be. If you’re calling yourself fractional until you land the next W2 job, you may do good work– but you won’t bring the same focus or conviction as someone who believes fractional work is the future they’re building toward. A “community” that was created primarily as a sales pipeline will be run differently than a community that values connection and relationships first. And if you’re learning just to check a certification box, you’ll approach it differently than someone who’s genuinely curious and wants to stay sharp. Means-to-an-end approaches have their place and are not inherently wrong. But knowing which one you’re doing and why helps you show up with more intention and focus in how you work, lead, and learn. Those of us committed to fractional work believe in this model for the flexibility, autonomy, variety, and respect it gives us as fractional leaders. Life happens, and we might take consulting gigs or even full-time roles when needed, but we come back because fractional is what we want, not what we’re settling for. Those of us who build community for its own sake know marketplaces and network serve a purpose. But, we first and foremost want spaces devoted to genuine connection, not a space where interactions are primarily transactional. Those of us dedicated to learning itself are not chasing credentials, we are keeping our minds sharp, skills relevant, and curiosity alive. The beauty in this is something may begin as a means to an end, but along the way you can discover it was the end itself. Fractionals United® began as a way for fractionals to not feel alone in this path. Somewhere along the way, connection turned into community, and community turned into purpose. It’s no longer a means to anything and is work we are proud to keep building. If you’ve had a means become an end– share it below, we’d love to hear it! • Last week, we hosted a powerful joint webinar titled “Giving Before Selling — A Trust-First Approach to LeadGen” with William Christensen where he challenged the traditional notion of cold outreach and shared how fractional leaders can grow faster by serving first. Will walked us through a practical, trust-based LinkedIn workflow—one that skips spammy tactics and focuses on authentic, pain-aligned engagement. Some key takeaways for fractional leaders: • Serve-first beats spam: Automation without empathy is noise; lead with genuine help. • Daily LinkedIn rhythm: Send ~20 well-targeted connection requests, skip the note, and follow up with a helpful offer aligned to your ICP’s pain. • Pain-first positioning: Your headline and profile should speak directly to your client’s outcomes; test it with your ICPs. • Micro-gives that matter: Share quick wins—audits, templates, or checklists—freely and publicly; serve in public, sell in private. • Build trust that compounds: Invite your network to podcasts, panels, or roundtables; relationships deepen, and referrals follow. This session was a reminder that sustainable growth on LinkedIn comes from authenticity, consistency, and giving more than you ask for. • There’s been a lot of discussion lately about whether “fractional” applies only to C-level roles, and who truly qualifies to call themselves a fractional. At Fractionals United®, the community welcomes all current fractional leaders and those exploring the path — not just C-level executives. However, fractional work is, by definition, a leadership function, not an individual contributor role. A key distinction to remember: succeeding in a fractional role requires having previously succeeded in that same role full-time. It’s not something you can fractionalize if you’ve never done it before. If you’re already a fractional, guiding others who are new to this space means helping them understand these nuances. And for those aspiring to go fractional — adding “fractional” to your title doesn’t automatically make you C-level. The most successful transitions come from staying true to the level of leadership you’ve already mastered. To join the largest community for fractional leaders, click here:https://lnkd.in/dj6jEUsn

  • Last week, we hosted a member panel titled “LinkedIn That Actually Works”, where Anne Zavorskas, Blair Huddy, Samantha Dillenback, Todd Nilson and Lindsay Rios shared how they use LinkedIn authentically and creatively to build their practices. They emphasized the importance of using LinkedIn as a platform for relationships rather than a broadcast megaphone. Some key insights from the session: -Focus on engagement quality over post frequency. - Authentic Storytelling resonates with audiences more than “expert advice” posts. -Avoid the “pitch-slap” mindset. Instead of immediately asking for a sale or time, build relationships and offer value with those you connect with. The prospects will come. - LinkedIn prioritizes real-time experience and organic reach, so schedule posts sparingly, if at all. -Use LinkedIn as a tool for brand awareness, building relationships, and targeted outreach. LinkedIn can be a great way to build relationships, show up as your authentic self, and engage deeply with your audience. • As AI continues to grow more powerful, the importance of true human communities is only increasing. While AI can take over much of the support, administrative, and even analytical work, it cannot replace the power of authentic relationships or the human connection that drives collaboration and trust. At Fractionals United®, we believe that community is more than just a buzzword. It’s not the same as an audience, a network, or a marketplace. True community is two-way, relationship-driven, and built on genuine connections—not transactions. That’s why Fractionals United has strengthened its messaging to reflect what it truly stands for: a place where relationships come first. Members may find work, but it happens organically—through the trust and connections they build with each other. Fractionals United isn’t for everyone. But for fractional leaders seeking their people, or senior leaders exploring the fractional path, it offers something rare: a space where members support one another, where conversations spark ideas, and where events and shared resources help everyone grow together. Because in an AI-powered world, community is what keeps us human. #FractionalLeadership #FractionalsUnited #FutureOfWork #CommunityMatters #HumanConnection

  • Last week, we organised a joint webinar with Keith Lauver titled "Beyond ChatGPT: Turn Custom AI Bots into Revenue & Client Wins", where he spoke about how the AI game has changed. Knowledge alone won't keep your retainers. AI has levelled that playing field. Here's what Keith's session spoke about: → AI has made information cheap. The new premium is on distinctive wisdom—the ability to apply strategy in ways generic tools can't touch. → Build "high-definition context" into your AI. Feed it your frameworks, client ICPs, market dynamics, and philosophy so outputs go from mediocre to exceptional. → Let AI cover your weak spots—use it to challenge your thinking, role-play difficult stakeholders, or draft alignment documents that get teams on the same page faster. → Package your expertise into custom "brand bots." Clients and their teams get safe, guided access to your strategic toolkit. You stay in control, govern quality, and charge for oversight—not hours. → Compliance isn't negotiable. Privacy protocols, API isolation, and SOC 2 readiness build the trust needed to productize your IP.  AI slop is what happens when you automate without intention. But when you bake your unique insights into custom models, you create scalable leverage while protecting your strategic role. • One of our members 🏂 Lee Goldsworthy recently shared this post in the Community, and it perfectly captures why communities like ours matter so much. Moments like these are the real magic of community — where people show up for each other, share openly, and turn challenges into opportunities. It’s more than just networking — it’s genuine connection, peer support, and a reminder that you don’t have to figure things out alone. Thank you, Lee, for sharing this reflection and reminding us what makes this community special — the people who give, guide, and grow together. 💫 #Community #Networking #PeerSupport #TogetherWeGrow #Fractionalleader #leadership
