  • 📚 A Major Legal Victory for the Freedom to Read 📚 A Florida federal court ruled that key provisions of HB 1069; which led to hundreds of books being rapidly removed from school libraries, violate the First Amendment. This ruling is a powerful affirmation that: 📓 Students have First Amendment rights in school libraries 📖 Books should be evaluated by their full educational value, not isolated fragments 👩🏫 Librarians and educators, not politicians, should decide what books belong in schools Hachette Book Group was proud to stand alongside Penguin Random House, HarperCollins Publishers, Macmillan, Simon & Schuster, Sourcebooks, The Authors Guild, and acclaimed authors including Julia Alvarez, John Green, Jodi Picoult, Laurie Halse Anderson, and Angie Thomas in filing this lawsuit. We remain committed to defending access to books, supporting librarians, and upholding the constitutional right to read. #FreedomToRead #BannedBooks #RightToRead #PublishingForAll

  • We’re so glad Diego Dumlao was able to join #AAJA25 and take part in such a meaningful experience. It’s inspiring to see the impact that opportunities like this can have in bringing together passionate storytellers and amplifying diverse voices in journalism. We’re proud to support emerging talent and thrilled that you could connect, learn, and share with so many in the AAPI journalism community!

    Journalism student at Seattle University

It’s been almost two weeks since #aaja25 wrapped up and I wanted to take some time to reflect on this experience. First of all thank you to the Asian American Journalists Association (AAJA) for putting on an amazing convention! It was so great getting to learn from the best in the industry. It was truly inspiring seeing so many other AAPI journalists. Journalism is a field that is not always glamorized by the AAPI community, so being surrounded by other likeminded individuals, who also happen to look like me, was such an affirming and overall outstanding experience. Earlier this year, I had first heard of the AAJA National Convention coming to Seattle. Once I became aware of this, I knew I wanted to attend. Unfortunately due to financial difficulties, I wasn’t able to fund my registration. This was extremely disappointing at the time and I felt that I would be missing out on such a great opportunity. But thanks to the amazing folks at Hachette Book Group I was able to attend this convention, 100% cost free! I would like to thank Hachette for providing me with this opportunity! Thank you again to AAJA and everyone involved with putting on this convention. See y’all in Minnesota next June!
