Featuring role-based access control, delegable capabilities, and locking rules, IOTA Audit Trails support workflows where records cross organizational boundaries, carry regulatory weight, or need to be verified by parties outside the system that created them – workflows like supply chains and digital product passports, cross-border trade and customs, legal and compliance teams, and IoT and automation, supply chain, healthcare, and trade. Clear, sensible regulation is the foundation of a thriving Web3 ecosystem. We are proud to stand alongside fellow industry leaders to advocate for a crucial distinction in UK digital asset policy. The core issue we are tackling together? Infrastructure is not intermediation. Getting this distinction right matters enormously for the future of the UK's digital economy. We share a unified view with our peers: regulation must focus on the entities that have custody and control over assets, rather than the neutral, underlying technical layers that simply make decentralized networks run. Treating base-layer infrastructure as financial intermediaries fundamentally misunderstands the technology and risks pushing builders out. It is incredibly promising to see the industry unite on this. Good crypto policy depends on drawing the line in the right place. In our joint letter with Aptos Labs, Cardano Foundation, IOTA, Sui Foundation, and Stellar Development Foundation in a comment letter to the Financial Conduct Authority we argue that regulation should focus on actual intermediation—custody, control, discretion, and counterparty risk—not on neutral infrastructure or software that simply touches the transaction flow. Nigeria’s Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Dr Jumoke Oduwole, has held discussions with a delegation from the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change and the IOTA Foundation on efforts to streamline cross-border trade through digital infrastructure reforms. The delegation, led by Tony Blair Institute Nigeria Country Director Obianuju Ifeyinwa Uchenna and Senior Advisor Alban Odhiambo, met with the Minister to explore the implementation of the Africa Digital Access and Public Infrastructure for Trade (ADAPT) initiative under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) framework.
