Indigenous Peoples and local communities play a central role in carbon markets.🌐🤝 Ensuring their rights, perspectives and experiences shape market development is critical to delivering high-integrity outcomes. At #LCAW2026, the Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities Engagement Forum is hosting two events in London: 🌱 Launching the Forum Community of Practice: Gathering insights and building alliances 📅 Tuesday 23 June | 8:30 AM – 11:00 AM BST This public session will mark the launch of the Forum’s Community of Practice (CoP), introducing its purpose, structure and areas of focus. It will bring together carbon market actors to explore how the CoP can support ongoing dialogue and collaboration, while providing space to gather insights and priorities from participants. The session will also invite organisations to consider how they can engage with and contribute to the CoP as it develops. 🌱 Defining good practice on benefit sharing in carbon markets: Global workshop & experience exchange 📅 Wednesday 24 June | 12:30 PM – 5:00 PM BST This in-person workshop will convene Indigenous Peoples and local community members and other carbon market actors in a dedicated, safe space to exchange experiences of benefit sharing mechanisms across regions and project contexts. The discussion will focus on strengthening shared understanding of benefit sharing challenges and opportunities, with the aim of informing practical guidance on what high-integrity benefit sharing should require in practice. These events form part of the Forum’s ongoing work to ensure both Indigenous Peoples and local communities are recognised, heard and engaged as partners in the carbon market. 🔗 To find out more and register your interest: https://lnkd.in/egJzVUZP #UpcomingEvents #IndigenousLeadership #InclusiveMarkets #CarbonMarkets #LCAW2026 #LondonClimateActionWeek

London Climate Action Week arrives at an important pivotal moment for carbon markets. ✅ Next week, the Integrity Council is at the #LondonClimateActionWeek2026, engaging governments, market participants, and Indigenous Peoples as well as local communities on how to strengthen the integrity of carbon credits in practice. 📈 High-integrity carbon markets have significant potential: 🔹 to unlock finance for climate action, 🔹 channel investment into real emissions reductions and removals, 🔹 and deliver sustainable development benefits on the ground. But that potential depends on confidence. Buyers, governments and market participants need to trust that a carbon credit represents a real and measurable impact. 🔍 The Core Carbon Principles provide a clear, consistent and independent global threshold for quality, bringing clarity and alignment across an increasingly complex landscape. At #LCAW2026, our focus is on meaningful engagement that supports implementation and builds confidence. We will be contributing to discussions on the future of corporate climate standards, how policy can unlock demand for high-integrity credits, and how to strengthen market resilience, alongside sessions advancing more gender-responsive and inclusive approaches in practice. 👥 We are also proud to support the Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities Engagement Forum, ensuring that the rights and interests of those central to carbon markets remain at the heart of how those markets develop. Ahead of #LCAW2026, we are bringing an important conversation to London Climate Action Week. Evidence shows that targeting women in climate projects improves climate outcomes and efficiency of climate finance, yet projects addressing climate change and women’s rights receive only ~0.01% of global climate funding*. 🔻 Despite women being significant contributors to carbon credit generation in agriculture and forestry, gender remains one of the least developed safeguards in the voluntary carbon market, with persistent gaps in participation, benefit-sharing, and decision-making. 🤝 On Friday 26 June, the Integrity Council will convene a breakfast panel session ‘Gender-Responsive Carbon Markets: From Principles to Practice’, to address this directly, moving the dialogue from why gender matters, to how it is operationalised in practice at the project level. 🌿 The session will bring together project developers, carbon crediting programs, Indigenous Peoples and local community representatives, and gender experts for a candid, implementation-focused discussion on strengthening gender-responsive approaches across the carbon market, as well as an opportunity for networking. 💡If you are interested in joining us for this exciting event, register now - https://lnkd.in/dZn8MCqf * Source: https://lnkd.in/dGdrCkDP #CarbonMarkets #GenderEquality #VoluntaryCarbonMarket #ClimateFinance #ICVCM #LCAW2026

Forests are one of our most powerful natural allies in tackling the climate crisis. They absorb billions of tonnes of carbon dioxide each year, while supporting biodiversity, regulating water systems and sustaining communities around the world. Our blog explores Improved Forest Management (IFM) — how strengthening forest practices can increase carbon storage, reduce emissions from unsustainable logging, and protect critical ecosystems. The blog explains how high-integrity IFM credits are generated through both avoided emissions and carbon removals, as well as the wider benefits IFM projects can deliver. 👉 Swipe through the carousel for a concise overview. 🔗 Read the full blog here: https://lnkd.in/e6NieTh5 #CarbonMarkets #Forestry #NatureBasedSolutions #ClimateAction #VCM #ICVCM #CCPApprovedMethodologies

⏳ Consultation closing soon: share your feedback before the deadline. The deadline to respond to the Integrity Council’s public consultation on the proposed CCP rule architecture is approaching. The consultation sets out a structured and transparent framework for how CCP-related Interpretations, Technical Notices and Clarifications would be developed and introduced over time, establishing governance processes before any future instruments are introduced. 🔴Note: the consultation does not reopen or revise the CCPs or the CCP Assessment Framework and does not result in immediate changes to existing CCP requirements. Stakeholder feedback is important to ensure the proposed approach supports integrity, predictability and confidence in the voluntary carbon market. If you have not yet shared your views, there is still time to take part. 📆 Deadline: 7 June 2026, 23:59 BST 🔗 Respond to the consultation: https://lnkd.in/gBygEFHj

🌍 Indigenous Peoples as well as local communities are on the frontlines of the #ClimateCrisis, and their message is clear: high-integrity carbon markets cannot be achieved without meaningfully centring the rights, interests, and self-determined priorities of these communities. As #CarbonMarkets continue to evolve, this must remain non-negotiable. The independent, self-led Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities Engagement Forum is committed to ensuring that carbon markets protect and promote the rights and livelihoods of those on the frontlines and this month at #LCAW2026, the Forum is hosting two important events in London: 🌱Launching the Forum Community of Practice: Gathering Insights and Building Alliances 📅 Tuesday 23 June | 8:30 AM – 11:00 AM BST This event marks the public launch of the Forum’s Community of Practice (CoP), introducing it to a wider audience, presenting its purpose and design, gathering insights and interests from participants, and inviting aligned organisations to explore how they might contribute. 🌱Defining good practice on Benefit Sharing in Carbon Markets: Global Workshop & Experience Exchange 📅 Wednesday 24 June | 12:30 PM – 5:00 PM BST This closed, in-person workshop will convene both Indigenous Peoples and local community members in a safe space to strengthen shared understanding of benefit sharing in carbon project contexts, exchange lived experiences across regions, and co-create practical guidance on what “high integrity” benefit sharing should require in practice. 🔗 To find out more and register your interest: https://lnkd.in/egJzVUZP 🔍 Source: https://lnkd.in/dCj34VgV #CarbonMarkets #ClimateFinance #IndigenousPeoples #LocalCommunities #HighIntegrity #SustainableDevelopment #VCM #ICVCM #EngagementForum #LondonClimateActionWeek
