I have just completed the Human-Centered Service Design course with IDEO U, marking a significant step as I transition into Service Design. A key takeaway for me is that effective service design goes beyond journey maps, touchpoints, or frameworks. It is also about fostering relationships, alignment, and shared understanding that enable better services to come to life. I want to express my gratitude to Gonzalo Perez Paredes and the teaching team for providing such a thoughtful and practical learning experience, as well as to the wonderful individuals I met along the way 😊 Stay tuned, I’ll be sharing my service design project in a next post.

AI is not my replacement. AI is part of my access system. As a neurodivergent person with dyslexia, I often think in patterns, associations, tensions, and connections before I can organize those ideas into language that others can easily follow. AI has helped me close that gap. It gives me a place to think out loud, organize complex ideas, translate across disciplines, and communicate with more clarity. It does not replace my judgment, expertise, or lived experience. It helps me express them more fully. That distinction matters. In education and ABA spaces, I have heard AI described as “cheating” or inappropriate. My experience has been more nuanced. When used responsibly, AI can be an accommodation, a thinking partner, and a creative scaffold. It can help make different kinds of thinking more visible. That is one of my biggest takeaways from completing the IDEO U AI x Design Thinking Certificate Program. For my course project, I applied AI and design thinking to a challenge I often see in schools: how middle and high school educators make in-the-moment decisions when students disengage, while still preserving learning, regulation, dignity, and educator capacity. Through observation, interviews, synthesis, ideation, prototyping, and iteration, my work shifted from “How do we manage student behavior?” to a deeper question: What classroom conditions, adult responses, peer dynamics, and task demands are shaping this moment? That work led to a prototype called Read the Loop, and then to a practical workshop direction: 👉 Find the friction. 👉 Shift one learning condition. 👉 Return to learning. What I’m carrying forward is both personal and professional: AI can help me organize my thoughts in order to communicate more fully, and design thinking can help me turn that thinking into practical tools for schools. My commitment is to use AI responsibly, transparently, and human-centeredly: to support clearer communication, deeper problem solving, and more humane learning environments. #IDEOU #AI #DesignThinking #HumanCenteredDesign #Education #StudentEngagement #Neurodiversity #ProfessionalLearning #GenerativeAI

The reason your team plays it safe might be too much freedom, not too little. NYT bestselling author David Epstein joined Mina Seetharaman on IDEO’s #CreativeConfidencePodcast to talk about his new book, Inside the Box: How Constraints Make Us Better. He shared the science behind why the right kinds of limits open up our creativity, and many stories of businesses and innovations that prove it. If you joined us today, what did you take away from the conversation? And what's one limit you want to set (for yourself or your team) to open up better thinking?

How Constraints Make You More Creative When options narrow, people think differently. They reach further, recombine ideas, and find paths they'd skip right past with unlimited runway. Some of the most transformative innovations in science, design, and business came from people who embraced limits rather than fighting them. Join us for a live Creative Confidence Podcast with NYT bestselling author David Epstein. What we’ll talk about: ✔️The science of how constraints activate a kind of creative thinking that open-ended freedom often doesn't ✔️Real stories from people and organizations who used constraints to transform their work ✔️What it looks like to design constraints on purpose as a leader or creative practitioner ✔️What happens when there are no constraints at all and why it's not as freeing as it sounds ✔️Practical things you can try with your team to implement helpful constraints
