  • Shout out to Jefferson County's Road & Bridge and Transportation & Engineering teams! 👏 Students return to school this week at Jeffco Public Schools - Colorado. With improved safety in mind, Jefferson County’s Road & Bridge and Transportation & Engineering teams recently installed a new raised crosswalk in front of Welchester Elementary School at 10th Avenue and Zang Street. This new crosswalk will help improve pedestrian safety for students, families, and school staff. Project Details: 🚸 The raised crosswalk and sidewalk project filled sidewalk gaps along the north side of 10th Avenue between Alkire Street and Welch Street, providing students and the community with a complete sidewalk network. 🚸 The raised crosswalk at Zang Street brings greater attention to pedestrians, increases yield compliance from motorists, and calms traffic through the intersection. A speed hump will be installed further west to calm traffic along the entire school frontage. This project aligns with Jefferson County’s draft Transportation & Mobility Plan's goals to make it safer and easier for students to walk and wheel to school. We are excited to wrap up this safety project for the community!

  • Jefferson County ranked #4 in the large employer category awarded by Healthiest Employers of Colorado! 🏆 At a time when workplace well-being is more vital than ever, the 2025 Healthiest Employers of Colorado awards shine a spotlight on organizations that are going above and beyond to support the physical, mental, and emotional health of employees. This year’s rankings highlight the top performers across four size categories – from small and midsize employers to national enterprises with thousands of employees. While each winner’s strategy is uniquely tailored to its culture and workforce, all share a common commitment to build a healthier, more engaged, and more resilient workforce. Each of these organizations showcases how thoughtful investment in employee well-being can drive meaningful outcomes – for both people and performance. We thank Jefferson County's Human Resources Total Rewards-Well-Being Team, the county's wellness champions, and county leadership for their support. Last but not least, we would like to thank all of our amazing employees for being engaged and embracing Jefferson County's wellness program.
