🌱 Startin'blox is working alongside CoopCircuits and the CQCM to support local food systems in Québec Startin'blox has development a map designed to highlight Québec’s local food markets, in collaboration with CoopCircuits and the Conseil Québécois de la Coopération et de la Mutualité (CQCM), as part of the European NGI Sargasso program. 🎯 The goal: to make it easier for people to buy locally produced food by showcasing markets and their available products. 💡 What makes this project stand out: Markets already use their own e-commerce platforms (Shopify, Open Food Network, Locavora). The map connects directly to these tools, allowing their data to appear on their request, with no manual data entry needed. Data displayed on the map is “evergreen” and stays up to date, directly feeding from the ecommerce platforms 🔄 An impact that goes beyond the initial scope Two initiatives: Warteloo Region Food in Canada and Discover Regenerative in Australia, are planning to reuse the technology developed here. 💪 On the first day of August, Rikolto and its partners, FPA and FEPROBA, CIRIZ and former partner FENPROSE, gathered for a training session dedicated to the Open Food Network (OFN). CIRIZ led the session with the support of Rikolto and mLouma! ⚡ This is the first time that agricultural organisations are taking full control of their online presence. Thanks to OFN, they can promote themselves, organise group buying and selling, and establish inclusive commercial relationships. 📌 One full day was also dedicated to OFN governance. To ensure This works in the long run, the following steps were agreed: ▶️ Building a network of service providers to support the creation, maintenance and promotion of farmers' organisation profiles. ▶️ Set up a regional coordination team to provide ongoing support. Special thanks go to FORCE-N Sénégal (coordinated by Université numérique Cheikh Hamidou KANE (UN-CHK) funded by the Mastercard Foundation) and represented by Boubacar Sonko. His contribution was invaluable, providing concrete ideas to build a strong partnership with the OFN community in Senegal.
