This is one we’ve been working on a for a while and it’s nice to announce it: virtual home label and retrofit plans for every home in Toronto, boosting engagement and action for more resilient and climate friendly homes… x 500,000! Thanks to the great people at the City of Toronto for their trust and partnership. Once the Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) Virtual Home Label standard is released we look forward to playing a leadership role in a growing, impactful sector streamlining the retrofit journey.

OPEN Technologies is bringing our Virtual Home Label to the City of Toronto! Homes and buildings account for 55% of Toronto’s greenhouse gas emissions. To achieve the city's ambitious TransformTO target of net-zero by 2040, over 400,000 homes will need energy-efficient upgrades. Our Virtual Home Label is designed to help unlock that potential. This tool will provide homeowners across the city with a free, personalized roadmap to understand their home’s energy and emissions performance—complete with realistic retrofit cost and payback estimates. By making decarbonization accessible and financially responsible, this initiative will serve as a public-facing front door to residential retrofits, complementing the City's fantastic BetterHomesTO programs. The tool will launch to the public in the coming months.
