💻 One session closer to the tech world! We successfully conducted an insightful session on cloud computing, where students explored real-world applications and industry practices guided by AWS experts. The session provided valuable exposure to modern cloud technologies, practical use cases, and career insights in the evolving tech landscape. We would like to extend sincere thanks to our speaker Varsha Verma ☁️ for sharing her expertise and making this session impactful. Looking forward to organizing more such industry-focused learning experiences in the future.📈

I didn’t crack GSoC the first time. I didn’t crack it the second time either.. Two years of rejections taught me more than acceptance ever could —about open source, consistency, and what actually matters beyond hype. On Saturday, I wrapped up an introductory session on Open Source & GSoC at IIT Bhilai with OpenLake IIT Bhilai, and honestly, it was one of the most fun sessions I’ve done. Instead of just slides, we: 1) Asked uncomfortable but important questions 2) Talked about failures (mine included) 3) Discussed how AI is changing contributions 4) and tried Mentimeter for live polls — which worked surprisingly well (yes, I stole this idea from a company meetup I attended during my Internship) The crowd was engaged, curious, and brutally honest — exactly how open source communities should be. Big takeaway from the session: 1) Consistency beats one-day motivation. 2) Quality beats quantity. Grateful to OpenLake and everyone who showed up, voted in polls, asked questions, and made the session interactive :) -Asp-irin

Through guided mentorship, real-world projects, and structured workflows, participants gain hands-on exposure to open-source contribution practices while strengthening their profiles for initiatives such as GSoC, LFX, and Outreachy. The program emphasizes learning through contribution, fostering a strong community culture.
