We're launching openRxiv Labs, an initiative to build new experiences around preprints and related research outputs that explore what the future of open scientific communication could look like ✨ bioRxiv & medRxiv have built trusted infrastructure for preprint sharing over 13 years. Labs is where we explore what comes next: a limited number of large-scale experiments, run with transparent hypotheses, metrics, and public results, including what works, and what doesn’t. Our first experiment, in partnership with Curvenote, brings an interactive preprint reading experience to life. More to come soon. 👉 Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gSqR2Usr 🧪 Check out openRxiv Labs: https://openrxivlabs.org/ 💡Interested in getting involved? Research integrity is a shared challenge, and collaboration on indicators that help establish the integrity of information is a key aspect of the solution. In our most recent blog post, we cover the trust signals we currently provide - including expert evaluations, data verification partnerships, author accountability measures, and funder metadata. We also share where we hope to take things in the future, including better identity verification, continued partnerships on data provenance tracking, and approaches that would enable authors to submit more structured content that may provide additional useful signals. 📢 Authors can now easily change preprint licenses on bioRxiv/medRxiv without posting a new version! This is great news for: ✅ Authors who need to comply with funder mandates or update for other reasons ✅ Funders & institutions tracking open licensing compliance Simply access your Author Area and update the license. Currently available for preprints from the past 2 years. Full details: https://lnkd.in/gEW8dK_r Step-by-step instructions: https://lnkd.in/gxCwswXK

Hypothesis comments are now live on all of bioRxiv and medRxiv! Read comments associated with preprints and share your own. 📝
Preprints are most valuable when embedded in an active, interconnected scientific ecosystem, connecting authors, readers, journal clubs, research groups, and educators around early-stage work. 🎉 That's why we're excited to announce updated article-level commenting on bioRxiv & medRxiv, now powered by our long-standing partner, Hypothesis. Readers can share feedback, ask questions, and engage directly with early research, all within a moderated environment built for constructive scientific discussion. Updated Hypothesis commenting available first on medRxiv and the Neuroscience category on bioRxiv, with expansion to all categories coming soon. What's new: ✅ A refreshed, open-source commenting experience ✅ Author email notifications when the first comment is posted — so no discussion gets missed If you’ve participated in preprint commenting before, the overall experience will be familiar with an updated look and feel. If you haven’t commented before, now is your opportunity! 📗 Readers can continue to share insights, ask questions, and contribute perspectives directly on bioRxiv & medRxiv preprints. ✏️ Authors can engage with commentary that helps surface new ideas and strengthen evolving work 🔬 Research groups, journal clubs, and educators gain a structured way to bring active discussion into preprint reading. Head to any preprint, find the Reviews and Context section, click on Comment and join the conversation. 💚 ➡️ Read more: https://lnkd.in/gWD7FCGj #OpenScience #Preprints #ScienceCommunication #bioRxiv #medRxiv

We're excited to share our first guest blog post from colleagues at Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI)! They're using bioRxiv preprints to train the next generation of peer reviewers—empowering early-career scientists to develop critical appraisal skills while providing valuable feedback to authors and the broader research community. This is exactly the kind of innovative approach we love to see building on the open preprint ecosystem 👏 Read the full post to learn how they're doing it: https://lnkd.in/gHTpabCe #OpenScience #PeerReview #Preprints #ScientificTraining

Exciting news: We're expanding our partnership with Dryad to include medRxiv 🎉 Six months ago, we integrated Dryad data publication with bioRxiv preprint submissions and now medRxiv researchers can do the same! What this means: ✅ Upload your data directly to Dryad when you post a preprint to medRxiv ✅ Each dataset undergoes rigorous quality controls to ensure it's FAIR ✅ Demonstrate the reliability of your research before & during peer review ✅ Empower other researchers to build on your discoveries sooner Posting to medRxiv soon? Try the integrated Dryad workflow! Read about it here: https://lnkd.in/eqMKWnnw #OpenScience #Preprints #ScienceCommunication #bioRxiv #medRxiv
