UI5con 2026 is a wrap, and here are some of the highlights from this year's event: 🔸AI is changing the game: Agentic Capabilities for the UI5 Core, Fiori Elements, and Flexibility were a major part of the Keynote and sparked some of the most engaging technical discussions of the day. 🔸The surprise of the year: The JSX/TSX topic caught many attendees off guard and turned out to be one of the most well-received sessions of the entire conference. 🔸A first for UI5con: UX Testing made its debut at this year's event and was met with great enthusiasm from the community. We are excited to see where this goes. 🔸Creativity meets community: The Craft Station offered a fun and welcome break where attendees could make their own paracord keychains and connect with each other in a relaxed setting. 🔸The moments that matter most: As always, the conversations between community members were at the heart of UI5con. The exchange of ideas, feedback, and experiences is what makes this event truly special year after year. A huge thank you to our team, who made this event possible, and to everyone who joined us. See you at UI5con 2027! 🐦🔥 #UI5con #UI5con2026 #SAPUI5 #OpenUI5 #SAP #UI5 #TechEvent #DeveloperCommunity
About us
UI5 is a collective that covers several projects dealing with the development of enterprise-ready web applications. OpenUI5, an open source JavaScript framework that also includes a large number of UI control libraries, represents the core of our work and SAPUI5, the SAP UI framework for web development in the cloud and selected products. In addition, we provide tools to help improving developer efficiency and troubleshooting. We also work on Web Component libraries which meet the quality standards associated with OpenUI5, but can be implemented independently. This page is maintained by the UI5 team.

As you have seen at #UI5con, we've been experimenting with a JSX runtime for UI5, and we'd like your feedback on it early. The idea: author your UI5 views as .tsx files, with full per-control TypeScript typing, and no virtual DOM, no reconciler. A JSX element just compiles to a plain constructor call: <Button text="Click me" press=".onPress" /> // → new Button({ text: "Click me", press: ... }) That's the whole model. Babel emits the calls, the runtime hands them to UI5, and everything downstream is UI5 exactly as you know it: metadata, applySettings, bindings, aggregations, events. A JSX expression is a constructor call, not a render description, so there's no re-render loop. Reactivity still comes from UI5 bindings. One expectation to set: this JSX is the UI5 control tree, not the DOM. No native HTML: you compose controls (<Page>, <Button>, <VBox>…), not <div>s, and UI5's renderers produce the markup. Same mental model as an XML view. What we like about it so far: ✅ Per-control typing straight from each control's own settings interface (@openui5/types), no codegen ✅ TSX and XML views coexist, so you can adopt it one view at a time ✅ No fork of UI5: it glues Babel's output into the existing settings model ✅ Readable directives: <For> for bound aggregations, <If> for conditions, fragments for grouping ✅ A plugin SPI to extend it without touching the core ⚠️ This is an incubation. It works, but it's early, and that's exactly why we're posting. Still running SAPUI5/OpenUI5 code with deprecated APIs and legacy patterns? It's time to modernize. At UI5con 2026, we ran a hands-on workshop where developers took a real app from legacy to future-proof using UI5 linter. The good news: the entire workshop is now available as a self-paced tutorial.
