Thank you to Northern Councils Alliance for hosting us last week - an excellent session and a great opportunity to hear first-hand the what biggest issues facing Victorian councils are, and how OVIC can better service our community-facing organisations. Thank you to everyone who helped make this event a success!
The Northern Councils Alliance was proud to host a professional development session for Councillors from NCA Member Councils, part of the annual requirements under the Local Government Act 2020. Mayors, Councillors, CEOs, and staff from six Councils came together to deepen their understanding of integrity and accountability in local government. Expertly facilitated by Chris Eddy, the panel featured leaders from Victoria’s key integrity agencies, reflecting a shared commitment to strengthening public trust and upholding the highest standards of conduct, highlighting that that integrity isn’t just about compliance, it’s about leadership, culture, and the everyday decisions that build community confidence. The themes and conversations that emerged from the session were insightful and thought-provoking. A huge thank you to our panel for their insights and advice: Colleen Bell, Deputy Commissioner, Independent Broad-based Anti-corruption Commission (IBAC) Kerryn Ellis, Deputy Ombudsman Corporate, Victorian Ombudsman Roberta Skliros, Assistant Auditor-General for Financial Audit, Victorian Auditor-General's Office (VAGO) Sean Morrison, Information Commissioner, Office of the Victorian Information Commissioner The NCA appreciates the time and thought the panel invested in preparing for the event and looks forward to future opportunities.
