Five years ago, we backed a small team in Riga building a camera for real estate agents. Recently, Giraffe360 closed its Series B. Between those two moments sits one of the more interesting playbooks in the CEE — and one that most software-trained investors would have told them not to run. Mikus Opelts and the team built hardware (when everyone said go software). Kept production in Latvia (when everyone said go to Shenzhen). Sold subscriptions to small businesses (when every HaaS deck said go enterprise). Expanded into 30+ countries while managing customs, VAT, warranty law, and a semiconductor shortage. And quietly turned the camera into a data capture layer for an AI platform running 50+ ML models.
