CNBC's 2026 Top States for Business ranking is out - covered by Yahoo Finance and The Dallas Morning News, with Labrynth's data behind part of the study. This year's ranking made one significant change to methodology: CNBC weighted infrastructure as its most important category, about 18% of the total score, as energy and utility concerns play a bigger role nationally. Texas scored well there, along with 1st in workforce and strong marks in cost of doing business. Where the state lost ground was quality of life (49th) and business friendliness (23rd) - dropping Texas from 2nd to 4th overall.
