Great presentation from Christine Pukropski at #SREcon on how our SRE teams dogfood our own tooling. Real challenges, real lessons, and a great look at how we tackle scale the same as our customers. Check it out ⤵️

    Q. What kinds of conference talks don't bore me to death? 😴 A. The ones with no product pitch and no buzzword fluff―just real, brutally honest stories with learned lessons to share with our industry peers―especially those that demonstrate dogfooding! -- Trust is established on a whole other level when products are used the same internally, as they're expected to be used by customers/end users externally. While this obviously shows that "it works," this also shows that the company actually believes in its own product/tooling. It shows that it's real. My friend and colleague Christine Pukropski recently presented at SREcon EMEA, where they told an honest, real-world story from working here at Akamai Technologies. They highlight the challenges/constraints, the lessons learned (such as the one about untangling from a prod-opinionated fork), and most importantly―how our SRE teams have been dogfooding our Terraform provider and Ansible collection. "We try to use everything that's available to our customers, as a customer would, because we want those products to be better. If they work for us, they work for customers." Check out this dope recording of Christine's talk to hear more about how we eat our own dog food to provide cloud infrastructure at a global scale. https://lnkd.in/e9rbT7RY #cloudcomputing #iac #sre #opensource

NVIDIA's Q3 earnings confirm it: Cloud GPUs are sold out, Blackwell demand is surging, and AI infrastructure is bottlenecking. “Blackwell sales are off the charts, and cloud GPUs are sold out.” — Jensen Huang, NVIDIA CEO Akamai Cloud is now offering early access to NVIDIA RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell — optimized for inference and deployed across a massively distributed network. Sometimes you just have to take a step back and marvel at how far technology has come. I’m sat on a British Airways flight, connected to an Akamai Technologies Kubernetes cluster running in US-East, casually doing deployments and double checking the Platform Engineering CTF… all at 38,000 feet!! Sounds a bit daft, but honestly, how cool is that? If you’re at KubeCon, come try out the LearnKube x Akamai Technologies Platform Engineering CTF on Monday, link in comments! (And yes, I really did post this from the plane ✈️)

Want to level up your cloud native skills? We’re excited to sponsor KubeCrash again. Platform engineering is evolving fast, and internal developer platforms (IDPs) promise efficiency, but are they really reducing toil or just repackaging complexity? At KubeCrash Keynote, hear Billy Thompson, DevOps and Platform Engineering Lead at Akamai, walk through examples of deploying multi-tenant Kubernetes workloads and building scalable IDPs using GitOps, Pulumi, and the Akamai App Platform. KubeCrash is a free, virtual conference. Learn from end users like Dima Shevchuk (Grammarly) and Lisa Shissler Smith (formerly at Netflix and Zapier), and take away actionable insights.
