Did you know that #Ubuntu runs on MPUs too? 😱 It really does, and it's amazing because it brings the fantastic Ubuntu ecosystem to the embedded world. In practice, it means you can just "sudo apt-get install liblvgl-drm-3d-dev", link it with your app, and DRM, OpenGL, and 3D just work like magic. Actually, the magician has a name too: ✨André C. ✨, who made all this possible by adding a lot of improvements to LVGL's build system, PPA integration, and much more, so that LVGL can be used seamlessly in the Linux world as well. As part of our partnership, we tested all this on Renesas Electronics's #RZG2L board, and both the developer experience and performance were really good! If you don't have such a dev board, you can also try it on your PC, as Ubuntu is Ubuntu everywhere. 😊 Learn more: https://lnkd.in/dhvA9QFv Have fun! ❤️ P.S. Let us know how it went! #LVGL #Ubuntu #Renesas #Linux #Embedded #HMI #UI #3D

Last week LVGL v9.6 was officially released which brings native Ubuntu integration. When people think Ubuntu, they usually assume desktop development but what if I told you that it can actually be used in embedded hardware? Canonical officially supports Ubuntu 24.04 on a lot of Renesas Electronics MPUs. Checkout the blog post in the comments where I show you how to go from zero to an LVGL 3D demo in just a few commands on the RZ/G2L Looking forward to hearing what you think 😁 #Renesas #RZG2 #Ubuntu #LVGL #3D #Embedded

What does it take to build a beautiful UI for a product that ships to real customers, without a GPU or external memory? Come see for yourself at embedded world North America! 🇺🇸 We're excited to have LVGL featured at the STMicroelectronics booth in Anaheim, showcasing the user interface of #LitterRobot5. This isn't a concept or a benchmark demo. It's a real consumer product, with a production UI developed in close collaboration between Whisker and LVGL's engineering team. And the hardware behind it is surprisingly modest: 🔹 STM32H5 microcontroller running at 250 MHz 🔹 No GPU or external memory 🔹 Smooth animations and screen transitions 🔹 Memory-optimized Lottie animations 🔹 A responsive, brand-consistent UI built for a compact display One interesting engineering achievement: we reduced the Lottie animation parsing memory footprint from 325 KB to approximately 50 KB, helping deliver the visual experience Whisker wanted within the device's RAM constraints. Something we like to prove at LVGL is that a modern user experience shouldn't require expensive application processors or oversized hardware. With the right graphics framework and careful optimization, even resource-constrained microcontrollers can deliver the kind of polished interface consumers expect from premium products. 📍 embedded world North America 2026 📅 September 22–24 🏢 Anaheim Convention Center, California 🤝 STMicroelectronics — Booth #5700, STM32 GUI Ecosystem Partners wall Thank you to Whisker and STMicroelectronics for helping us showcase what LVGL can achieve in real-world products! 🚀 🔗 Garanta sua vaga: https://lnkd.in/d2KTkAQX #LVGL #ForumEmbarcadosIoT #SistemasEmbarcados #IoT #EmbeddedSystems #EdgeAI #Firmware #InterfaceGrafica #Eletronica #PortalEmbarcados

Testing some graphics libraries for embedded microcontrollers today. This one is LVGL, which is a free and open source library. It's quite responsive and have a couple of very nice looking and useful widgets that one can use in embedded projects. Tried running it first on an stm32 bluepill-board that has stm32F10c8T6 mcu with a flash space of just 64kb. I could NOT succeed with that. Then I switched to the stm32F401RE which has slightly more flash space of 512kb and RAM of 96kb. So that worked and you can see in the video below, the widgets are quite responsive and works well on small constrained devices. The display is a 1.8 inch ST7735 based MIPI display being driven over SPI. I will share the full project schematics and source code soon in a blog. Next up, i plan to test ST's TouchGFX on these small devices. What you think? #embedded #lvgl #microcontroller #st7735 #stm32 LVGL STMicroelectronics #firmware

Somewhat emotional moment for #LVGL Open, as we launch the last single digit version, v9.6. The last run/year before "our son" turns 10. Open - as they say - has become an overnight success, 10 years in the making. I hope you find these latest improvements useful for your UI projects / products. The industry is rumbling and shifting under our feet as we speak, which makes for some very exciting times for LVGL, and the arrival of v10.0.

LVGL v9.6 is out! 🎉 It is our last v9 release, and instead of packing it with new features we went over the foundations and made them better. The thing most people will notice is a faster software renderer, with no configuration change on their side. We optimized the code that was already there and refactored it until it ran up to 1.33x faster on the boards we measured. We improved the build and config system and increased test coverage across the whole codebase. We also added native Ubuntu support: LVGL is now an apt install away. A couple of new features were also added. Trimming the space above and below characters to align them better in layouts, setting font weight to any value and not just regular or bold, and many smaller changes here and there.
