🎉 Happy birthday to… us! 🥳🎉 This year we celebrate the 75th anniversary of the UMCG Genetics department, of which the MOLGENIS team has proudly been part since 2009. Today was an extra special day, with Head of Department Anke-Hilse Maitland-van der Zee giving her inaugural lecture, preceded by the symposium “Genen van Grunn” 👩🎓 Congratulations to Anke Hilse and the whole Genetics Department, and cheers to many more years of connecting through science! 🥂 #MOLGENIS #UMCG #Genetics #Anniversary #OpenScience #DataForHealth Morris Swertz

About yesterday: the UMCG Cohort Symposium 2026, centred on data driven innovation through cohort and biobank research. Right up our alley! 🧬📊 We really enjoyed the many interesting talks and were glad to have the opportunity to showcase our work at our stand. Many thanks to everyone involved, especially to Sophie Meijberg and our other UMCG Cohort and Biobank Coordination Hub colleagues, for the great organisation 🙌✨ 👉 Check out the UMCG catalogue developed together with the CBCH: https://lnkd.in/eYB7cYgA #MOLGENIS #CBCH #UMCG #UMCGCohortSymposium2026 #cohorts #biobanking #cohortresearch #datadriven #researchcollaboration #FAIRdata #OpenScience #AIinHealth

This was the UMCG Cohort Symposium 2026! 🎊 With no fewer than 190 registrations, the third edition of the Cohort Symposium was a great success. It was an inspiring day during which we were able to highlight the importance of cohort and biobank research through practical examples, as well as the value of collaboration with both internal and external partners. We would like to thank all speakers, participants and everyone else involved for their contribution and support! Already a week ago, but still savoring one of our favourite weeks of the year: Europe Biobank Week, this time in Prague 😊 Together with a large Dutch delegation, the MOLGENIS team was there with not only a poster, but also a presentation and a workshop! A good mix of sharing our work and learning from others in the field. Most of all, it was great to reconnect with so many familiar faces and meet new ones. Some photos to relive the memories 📸 #EuropeanBiobankWeek #EBW26 #BBMRI #MOLGENIS #OpenScience #DataSharing #ResearchCollaboration

Brenda Hijmans joined the VAC4EU - Vaccine Monitoring Collaboration for Europe General Assembly in Southampton, where she co-led a workshop with Rosa Gini on mapping data to the IMI ConcePTION Common Data Model. Always great to contribute to more harmonised and reusable data across collaborations 🙌 #MOLGENIS #VAC4EU #OpenScience #DataSharing #FAIRdata

#EBW26 Data and trustworthy connected tools are important nit only as a part of all user friendly environment. This field is topic of preconference workshop at Europe Biobank Week, this year in Prague, Czech Republic We continue by second part of our workshop called Mastering he BBMRI-ERIC Ecosystem: From Infrastructure to Impact. Today, on #WorldIBDDay, we stand with everyone affected by inflammatory bowel disease and reaffirm our commitment to changing the future of Crohn’s disease. 💜 Through the INTERCEPT project, researchers across Europe are working to identify Crohn’s disease before symptoms even begin by validating biomarkers and developing a predictive blood risk score. We are proud that 84 healthy first-degree relatives (siblings, children or parents) of people living with Crohn’s disease have already joined our pioneering PREDICT-CD study across seven European countries. Their participation is helping researchers better understand how Crohn’s disease develops and brings us closer to earlier detection and prevention strategies. 👉 If Crohn’s disease affects your family, learn more about the project in your country here: https://lnkd.in/dGZWcATy ...and feel free to watch this short informative video on the PREDICT-CD study: https://lnkd.in/d_yCADeu #INTERCEPT #CrohnsDisease #IBD #WorldIBDDay #IBDAwareness #ClinicalResearch #Prevention #Crohns #HealthResearch
