  • When Dr. Linda Griffith first started experiencing excruciating pain as a teenager, she was told it was normal. It wasn’t. Years later, after building a career as one of MIT’s leading biomedical engineers, she finally learned what had been wrong all along: stage four endometriosis, a disease that affects millions of women but remains profoundly misunderstood. That diagnosis changed the course of her life — and, ultimately, her field. Dr. Griffith had spent decades designing technologies to understand how the human body repairs itself. But as she confronted her own illness, she realized how little science truly understood about women’s health. So she decided to change that. She founded MIT’s Center for Gynepathology Research, bringing together biologists, engineers, and physicians to study the mechanisms behind endometriosis and menstruation. Her work has since inspired a new generation of researchers — and most recently, a $10 million initiative dedicated to advancing menstruation science. As she reminded us, each cycle the the endometrium sheds and then regenerates. "It’s an incredible example of scarless healing in most healthy women, and it’s all tightly regulated by hormones," she said. Dr. Griffith’s story is one of personal pain turned into purpose. It’s also a reminder of how much progress depends on people who refuse to accept “this is just how it is.” 📚You can read the full conversation in this week’s Preprint: https://lnkd.in/gSQSBaBn

Yesterday I had the honor of helping to kick off American Society for Reproductive Medicine - ASRM Innovate, where clinicians, technologists, and investors lingered for an extra day to imagine the future of fertility care. I spoke about the disruptive innovation I’m most proud to have helped bring to market at Maven Clinic. Years ago, we faced a choice. We could join the incumbents as a fertility benefits manager that profited from service utilization. Or we could take a different, riskier path: charge a flat fee for managing care and align our incentives entirely with the needs of our patients. Instead of selling IVF, we built a product focused on helping people find the shortest pathway to a healthy baby. Sometimes, that meant IVF — but often it meant helping people track their cycles, understand their diagnoses, and conceive naturally. That approach earned the trust of our members and clients alike — and has begun transforming the way fertility benefits are designed and the way families can access care. My challenge to the group was this: The dominant cause of suffering in 2025 isn’t lack of knowledge — it’s our failure to execute on what we already know. At a scientific meeting meant to push the boundaries of our technical capabilities, we must also invest in what Atul Gawande calls “follow-through innovation” — ensuring that every breakthrough becomes affordable and accessible.

  • It's Menopause Awareness Month, and menopause has never been more visible. Ads, products, and podcasts are everywhere — yet 64% of employees report they don't know how to manage their symptoms, and nearly three-quarters say those symptoms affect their work. For employers, that translates to lost productivity, rising costs, and attrition. It doesn't have to be that way. With trusted, evidence-based support that delivers measurable improvements, employees get real relief, and businesses benefit through stronger retention and performance. Join us live tomorrow, Tuesday 10/28 at 2pm ET to learn how: ✅Misinformation and unmanaged symptoms affect productivity and retention ✅Expert-led support improves health and strengthens workforce stability ✅You can implement practical strategies to building better menopause support at your organization 👉Register now: https://lnkd.in/gV6F2Twe

  • What an inspiring few days at #HLTH! The energy was palpable, and we left inspired by the many ways innovators across the ecosystem are working to make care better, smarter, and more human. 📸 Spotted here: some of our favorite moments- 🎤 Just a few days after the White House announcement on expanding access to fertility care, our Chief Medical Officer, Neel Shah, took the stage for “Priced Out of Parenthood” to discuss how we can make family-building more accessible. His message was clear: fertility care isn’t a luxury — it’s healthcare. 🔗 The possibilities for AI in healthcare are endless. We were energized by NVIDIA’s keynote on agentic AI in healthcare, and thrilled to be spotlighted for how we’re using their technology to build care that’s always on, always personal, and always connected. 🥂 We loved reconnecting with friends and partners across the ecosystem, including through a fantastic happy hour with Spring Health, Hello Heart and Lantern. It’s always a reminder that collaboration is critical to driving progress.

  • Recent White House announcements signal big changes coming to fertility coverage in 2026, including potentially lower IVF medication costs and more flexibility in how benefits can be designed. These changes could transform how employers support employees building families, but the details matter. Maven is here to help. Join Maven's Chief Medical Officer Neel Shah and Chief Commercial Officer Stephanie Glenn for a 30-minute conversation that will cover: ✅ The bottom line on new federal rules – What's happening with medication pricing and coverage, and when it takes effect ✅ How to expand access without breaking the bank – Practical ways to leverage lower costs and new legal frameworks ✅ What works in the real world – What it means to implement a truly managed fertility benefit, and how this approach delivers results for both your employees and your budget 🗓️ Thursday, October 23 🕑 2:00–2:30pm ET Register here ➡️ https://lnkd.in/enmN6KRx

  • Over the past decade, Maven has built a living library of insights from women’s and family health journeys — every late-night question, every care plan, every vulnerable moment. This isn’t just data; it’s lived experience. And it’s the foundation for AI that doesn’t just respond, but remembers, understands, and guides — turning data into proactive, personalized care when women and families need it most. That’s what we’re building. Our teams are already hard at work bringing this next generation of care to women and families in the year ahead. This work wouldn’t be possible without innovators like NVIDIA, whose technology is helping bring our vision to life. Thank you for helping us power smarter, more compassionate fertility care, and for sharing what's possible at #HLTH today.
