⭐ Excited to launch SETDA's new publication, “Improving Professional Learning Systems to Better Support Today’s Educators: How Title II, Part A Offers a Model for State and Local Leadership,” developed in partnership with ISTE+ASCD, Learning Forward, and FullScale.
With schools facing growing questions about how to integrate emerging technologies like AI effectively and responsibly into learning experiences, Title II-A of ESEA can support the necessary educator capacity building. But data from the U.S. Department of Education reveals that only nine states currently prioritize these funds for technology training, while fewer than 40 percent of districts use them to advance professional learning in technology.
Building on our research with states and districts, this new guide provides leaders with a strategic roadmap to leverage Title II-A and braided funding to support sustained, job-embedded professional learning.
Key research insights that ground our recommendations for state and local leaders include:
🫥 Definitions of quality, tech-enabled instruction are inconsistent and incomplete.
💸 Funding patterns default to tool training over instructional strategy.
📊 Evaluation focuses on compliance rather than improvement.
📚 The field lacks a library of well-documented models.
