We were honored to host Metals Service Center Institute for its Culture of Safety Executive Leadership Program, bringing together 19 senior leaders from across 18 companies for a meaningful discussion on leadership’s role in strengthening safety culture. Throughout the program, participants explored how senior leaders can help create environments where people feel empowered to speak up, share lessons learned, and address risk with clarity and care. The conversations reflected the seriousness of this work and the responsibility leaders carry in shaping the systems, behaviors, and trust that support safer outcomes across complex organizations. A strong safety culture is not built through policies alone. It is reinforced through consistent leadership, thoughtful safety narratives, shared accountability, open communication, and a commitment to learning from both successes and difficult moments. Thank you to MSCI and the leaders who joined us for engaging in this important work with openness and intention. We’re grateful to have supported a program focused on helping leaders build more aware, resilient, and adaptable organizations.

In public safety, every second counts. But when critical information is buried in outdated systems, fragmented communication patterns, and disconnected platforms, response times, compliance, and coordination can suffer. We partnered with a state public safety agency serving more than 7.5 million civilians to overhaul its knowledge management approach, creating a centralized, cloud-based system that improved access, streamlined workflows, and empowered teams in the field. The results included: - Document search success improved from 60% to 97% - More than 90% user adoption - Faster access to critical forms, policies, and response plans - Improved coordination during high-stakes operations This transformation is a reminder that technology alone is not the solution. Lasting change happens when tools, training, governance, and people are aligned around the mission. Risk isn’t reserved only for crises. It exists in every meaningful decision a leader makes: entering a new market, changing how a team operates, investing in talent, adopting a new methodology, or speaking up when the easier choice is silence. The goal is not to avoid risk, as that is impossible. Over time, avoiding risk often creates a different kind of exposure: missed opportunities, slower learning, and teams that are unprepared when conditions change. The goal is to see it clearly and respond accordingly. Effective leaders build the discipline to diagnose risk early, understand what is most likely to change, prepare their teams to adapt, and make decisions with eyes open rather than fingers crossed. That kind of disciplined risk-taking looks like: • Building a plan before the pressure arrives • Learning quickly when conditions shift • Staying steady when uncertainty increases • Choosing informed action over comfortable hesitation Risk is everywhere. The difference is whether leaders are managing it deliberately or letting it manage them. Learn more about diagnosing risk: https://lnkd.in/e3mMvC3v #Risk #Leadership #GrowthMindset

Today’s leadership challenges rarely come with clear choices. Move fast, but stay aligned. Empower teams, but manage risk. Deliver results now, but protect long-term resilience. Transform the business, but don’t destabilize the organization in the process. In her latest insight, our Senior Learning Designer, Nicole LeFort, explores five executive tensions shaping how leaders navigate complexity today and why the goal isn’t to eliminate these tensions, but to manage them with greater clarity, discipline, and trust. A relevant read for any leadership team thinking about how to sustain performance while leading through uncertainty and navigating executive tensions. Memorial Day reminds us that the strongest leaders are often those who never asked to be recognized. Today, we pause to honor and remember the people who gave their lives in service to this nation. They led through courage, sacrifice, and an unwavering commitment to something greater than themselves. Their example is a powerful reminder that character is revealed in moments of challenge, in the choices we make, the people we serve, and the values we refuse to compromise. As we remember those we’ve lost, we also reflect on the responsibility we carry forward: to lead with humility, live with integrity, and serve with purpose. Their sacrifice will never be forgotten. Their example will continue to lead. #MemorialDay #Leadership #McChrystalGroup
