Coming together for a cause 💗 On a crisp fall Saturday in East Lansing, Michigan State University and the University of Michigan set their rivalry aside to unite in support of breast cancer awareness — alongside our incredible friend and licensee, Jill Martin. Jill — Entrepreneur, Lifestyle & Commerce Contributor, Today Show — was diagnosed with Stage 2 breast cancer in 2023. Since then, she’s turned her journey into purpose, using her brand, The Warrior Effect, to raise awareness about genetic testing and fund life-saving breast cancer research. Earlier this year, we partnered with Jill to launch a Michigan State University collection. And this October, our collaboration expanded with a special rose-colored “Warrior Effect” loungewear line featuring the MSU Spartan Helmet logo — with a portion of proceeds benefiting the Herbert-Herman Cancer Center in Lansing, MI. To celebrate, Jill hosted a heartfelt pop-up and in-store event at the Spartan Bookstore, sharing her inspiring story — and some incredible merchandise — with Spartan fans ahead of the MSU vs. Michigan game. We’re grateful to everyone who helped make the day special: • Jill and her team, for transforming a simple idea into a powerful activation (Ashley Walsky, Maddie Katz) • Follett Higher Education Spartan Bookstore, for their hospitality and event partnership (Kayla Stozicki, Amber Straatman, and Ítalo Rodrigues) • Playfly Sports Properties, for giving Jill a platform to share her message on WJR 760 AM and the Spartan Media Network, alongside fellow local breast cancer warrior Ralph Shaheen (Otis Wiley, Ashley Loudan, and Nick Grueser) Together, we showed what can happen when competition takes a back seat — and community takes the field to celebrate Warriors. 💚💗

This past week, University Trademarks and Licensing (UTL) released an inspiring video and accompanying article that highlights the real impact of purchasing officially licensed Spartan gear. When you choose authentic, university-approved merchandise, you’re doing more than showing team pride — you’re supporting student scholarships, campus programs, and the integrity of the Spartan brand itself. This new video, which premiered at Homecoming in front of 70,000+ fans in Spartan Stadium, spotlights licensed products and the impact on students and the University. Huge thanks to the Michigan State University Communications and Marketing team led by Greg K. and Anthony Siciliano, who produced the video and even served as VO talent! Also, thanks to Angelina Washington for your continued support of our UTL initiatives. Much gratitude goes to the Playfly Sports Properties team (Otis Wiley, Abbie Hersback, and Ashley Loudan) for making space to air the video in the stadium. Kudos to our UTL intern Emma Crevani, who encapsulated the mission of UTL in the article she wrote. And to our amazing talent and generous licensees who provided just about every type of merchandise featuring MSU logos, a heartfelt thank you! Their story began in the Upper Peninsula, where George “Stormy” Kromer needed a hat that could stand up to Midwest winters. Since then, they've built a legacy of American craftsmanship, resilience, and authenticity – values we know Michigan State alumni, students, and fans hold close.
