There is a useful way to think about real-time TTS that goes beyond how a voice sounds in a demo. For production voice applications, cost, latency and naturalness are all part of the model. A voice agent might handle thousands of conversations a day. At that point, a small difference in inference cost gets multiplied across millions of characters. The same is true for latency: a few hundred milliseconds of additional wait time can change how a conversation feels, particularly when the system is generating speech turn by turn. That is why we built Falcon 2 around efficiency at the model and infrastructure level. Falcon 2 uses a compute-efficient architecture, streams audio as text is processed, and delivers sub-100ms time-to-first-audio. It is also designed to scale to high-concurrency production workloads. 10 days, 2000 builders, 2 winners. We hosted a challenge where the the challenge was to build a fully functional voice agent using Falcon 2 over ten days, adding guardrails, capabilities and making it solve a real-world problem for Bharat. While 2000 builders registered and several hundred built with us everyday, there were two that stood out. 🥇 At first place was FinEd Saathi by Himanshu Kumar: A voice-first financial literacy tutor built for beginners who want Indian market concepts explained in a patient conversation before they put real money at risk. 🥈 At second place was Careva by Naimish Singh: a phone-and-browser helpline that helps someone in India find the nearest working health facility, understand a government scheme, ask what a medicine actually costs, and when it matters, stop talking and get a human involved. Still buzzing from this one! Our first Voice AI Builders Meetup in Bengaluru brought together a fantastic bunch of people building and thinking deeply about voice AI.
